I think peeps may be mixing up the reasons behind itrader and reps too. I'll happily give a rep for somebody pointing me too or giving me something useful especially their advice. I give rep where one member has given another good advice too. It's like saying, 'hey, thanks mate'. But that's not the same as an exchange where both want something from the other even if that something is only a link, is it?

True, repping for free items is much better (P.S: you can put your username somewhere on the message so it sounds more personal). And yes I do agree they are probably mixed up, atleast IMO for new members the rep system isn't ro familiar to them (atleast It wasn't for me when I joined lol).

Would you repping system be corrupted if more used it on free items only?...

And now people are getting heaps of itrader for spreading illegal software.
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=271624

The quality of the itrader system is worthless as of right now, it's a broken system, and indirectly encourage spreading illegal software. Great.

That is a particularly bad one...The freebie giver even has a red rep (yet a positive iTrader)

After much philosophising and logical thinking I am going to have to withdraw my support for this idea. Read on to hear the inner workings of my mind!

The main problem is, where do you draw the line?

Sure giving something away for free should not rack up itrader points - for all the reasons above.

What about "trading" the free resource for something else (a service for example). "I need an email sent to this address, send an email to this address and in return i will send you this resource.

    A less extreme example:

Send $0.01 to this paypal xxxxxxxxxx.com and i will send you the resource.

    what about $0.20 or $0.50?

    Its not workable.

What I am saying is that even if a "freebie" section is created there will be very easy ways around it.

    We need a big rethink.

So how about a section for Under $1 and Free stuff deals? That'd work very well now. Even forum posting contractors with payouts less than $1 would go there.

Who does forum posting work for under $1? There is a $0.30 paypal flat fee + a small percentage. Pretty useless.

10 cents a post, many people do that for even small packages like 5-10 posts.

Oh and thanks for that Nottingham.

True; and even more so, people are spreading warez scripts around here, include UploadGalaxy clone, which is an early version of our XtraUpload.

This is making our legal people work harder than ever to eliminate these sites and report them to authorities.

And these people giving them away are getting iTrader for nothing.. giving away scripts that make us developers work without a break.

This system is yes, corrupt, and for people out there it's a mess and encouraging illegal scripts to be spread around.

For everything, there is always a miniority. It could be a 'test' posting service some may use.

But overall I think that a free section should be created for all these types of things.

That makes minimal sense :-/. Internal work does not stop anyone from giving a heads up that they are aware of the situation or even know about it.

Shawn has made this very clear on several occasions:

    • The mods/admin are working at their optimum level.
    • He will now burden mods anymore then he is atm.
    • He will rather shut down the whole B/S/T section before any mod gets burdened anymore.

    And i say

    • Give them time
    • Wait for shawn, for an answer.
    • Do you have any idea how many threads/posts come in every day and how many people report them?! its un-holy,simply put!
    • Mods have way too much to do to be thinking of doing something else, just give-them-time.

There is no burden. Its a coding thing not a Mod thing.

This thread is just to show the need for such coding.

I just know when I was a Mod I ignored any suggestion that was really for an Admin (like this one), so people shouldn't expect Mods to weigh in.

Im just trying to keep this topic alive and on course. :D
