Do you do your own or have an accountant?

If you have an accountant, is it a live person or a web based service?

Anyway, how much is it costing you?

Interesting, those two replace an accountant, I understand.

How easy are they to use?

    Are they fool proof?

    Thank you!

For a simple business they do in fact replace an accountant. The first step in accounting is accurate record keeping. If at the end of the year you know the total income you received and where it came from AND what you spent and which category of expenditure it was doing your taxes is pretty simple.

A lot of people pay a high priced accountant to sort though a shoebox of receipts and come up with a total for income and expenses.

The hardest part of setting Quicken up is defining the income and expense categories that are personalized to your business. A lot of prep time goes into that basic step which makes everthing else easy. The default catergries confuse many people.

The tax sofware is a question and answer series. You input income and expenses by answering the questions and the software places them on the right form and does the math. I do not import the data from Quicken to the tax sofware because I have more than one business activity.

If I were settting it up fresh using the latest version I could set it up that way since features have been added to the later versions that the older ones did not have.
