Well, I'm going to be picking a major soon, and not really sure what I want to do. The real money is in the medical field, but I'm really into computers, and consider myself highly skilled with them..Just wondering, what are some good majors, dealing with IT, Computers and alll that stuff..Can you make 90+k doing this?
I you have the aptitude and interest to get on in medicine or law go for that. If not IT is a good choice - $90k+ is very achievable once you have some experience.
Well the only reason I want to go into the medical field is for the money..Although if you can make a nice amount in IT I wouldn't mind that either..Does anyone know a site where they have jobs listed, how many years it takes, and the pay you make the 1st yr? Thanks!
Do what you want. Of course you have to be able to make a living, but don't get a job just for the money, unless you will make so much you can retire after 3-5 years. In terms of working conditions and training required, most medical jobs aren't that great. They are stable and you will do well, but a lot of them cause severe quality of life compromises. BTW, the real money is in business. But, it's just that it's like acting, or music--either you get to the big leagues or you probably struggle for a long, long time.
Geology, 1 major (4 years) salary, $70k a year, good job market (not a lot of people in it so you get hired quickly). Medicine is high pay but you have to do way more years or school for it (atleast in Canada, we don't have direct programs here, you need undergrad first and then you can apply....)
I work on the internet freelancing + trying to do my own business Sincerly i do what i love ande get payed very good for this At this point i don't know evrything else that can bring me soo many satisfactions I'm a beliver in the phrase : Do What you love not for the money ...
First year IT, expect to make between $40K and $70K in the U.S., depending on the city, your school, etc. Engineering will pay the same or more, but not too many other fields can guarantee that type of pay straight out of school. Medicine you can easily make $500K+ per year, but you have to be good and have to go through another 11 years of school. Ouch. I Agree with w3bmaster ... find something you love, then figure out how best to make money doing it.
totally. don't do like I did - entered electrical engineering just b/c I figured it would be good on the back end $$$ little did I know I would get my a$$ handed to me in college. Good news, at least now though, I know what I want to be when I grow up
