Why don't people create multiple sites for adsense?

Well, after my last thread about "Living off of Adsense" it would be pretty hard to do it off of one site.. but what if you had loads of websites of your own on ne google account surely you could make a living out of that. If so why doesn't everyone create multiple websites or a network of websites so all the earnings go to one account. Is this not allowed :s I'm confused. Can someone please explain why people DON'T do it?

    Thanks.

people are afraid of moving on.

To be honest you dont have to live with just one site, you could expand the site into muliple ideas, forums, some sort of useful service etc.

Ive seen people with blogs, sure posting 30 posts over 10 blogs a day is fun, but that means your posting.. one every 40 minutes(if you never sleep), thats coming up with an idea for it, researching it and then writing it.

    True point.

But i've been told different in my other thread lol. In the coming months i want to be able to have a few websites that are earning over $1,000 a month together. For me, this will be plenty to live off of for now seeing as i'm a student and only need to pay small amounts of rent monthly also a bit extra to go out and do what i want.

You can have as many sites as you want. You just have to get people to the sites and have something they will come back for.

Its all to do with traffic. It does not amtter how many sites you have but if the overall traffic is good then you have a chance of making money. Having more than one site does reduce risk.

Having a few different sites is fine but just adding and adding does not make you more money than putting the same effort into fewer sites, imo.

Loads of people do this, but as well as increasing the publisher's revenue take it increases the likelihood of breaking the TOS / attracting 'negative' attention from certain unscrupulous visitors. A careful balancing act.

even with 1 site you can make 1k/day
it's all about traffic as questcommunications already wrote

and whoever has started the AS game seriously does not have 1 site only

I think you should first make 2, 3 good websites and promote them. After you start making money you should continue to more websites. There are people that are making over $100.000/month just from 1 website and other people have 100 websites and earn less than $10/month!

As far as I know there's no restriction on adding Adsense to new sites from a single account, as long as the sites comply with Google's policies. Used to be you'd have to apply again for each new site but (fortunately) they got rid of that rule. But there's a lot to be said for building out your existing site, since it's already established and has inbound links and search rankings if you've done your homework. Doing all that over for each new site can be a headache. Though as you can see it didn't stop me :)

Well I guess the short answer is, people DO do it.

But that said you don't need multiple sites to make a living off AdSense - it is VERY possible to just have one good site that makes more than an average income off AdSense - it is actually VERY possible to have one site that makes a lot more than your average income. I'd actually argue that there are probably more people out there making 75%+ of their income from one site than there are a network of sites.

Why would people focus their energy on one site - because at the end of the day when it comes to sites it is much better to focus all your marketing efforts on one site than to spread yourself too thin across a number of sites because if you spread yourself too thin then none of your sites get off the ground. Like if I had to choose to have either one site that ranked in the top 5 for 20 major keyword terms in an industry, or to have 5 sites that ranked 20 - 30 for 20 major keywords terms in the same industry I'd choose to have the one site that ranked well.

Why? Because the way the majority of search engines are structure the vast majority of people don't look past the first page, and in many case most people don't look past the 5th result (results above the fold), and at the end of the day traffic is the main influencing variable in the making good money with AdSense equation.
