Should we Target Plural or Non Plural Keywords?

All of the keyword tools I try give the same results for plural and non plural keywords. How do I find out which one is searched for more. For example, hat or hats, which keyword would be searched for the most? Search engines give different results for each. Is there a keyword tool that takes this into consideration when delivering results?

I was under the impression that search engines return the same results for either form, but I'm interested to know this for sure too.

You could always find out for sure by searching for the singular and then the plural. Say 'summer hat' and 'summer hats' :D

This is weird, but I always thought of the plural being better. Just my opinion!

it depends on what the visitors always used, for me there is no difference if singular or plural.

You can use wordtracker.com to find out which version is more beneficial for your search campaign. Also check the no. of searches done, competition and keyword effectiveness index (KEI) for both the version.

It always depends on the keyword, but I believe it's best to normally go after the singular with a few keywords that use the plural. If you can add the plural in the title then great and in other forms in the content like "ed" and "ing" as well.
I think many search engines will take in account if your webpage is using the different ways one keyword can be used. I think using all carries a certain amount of weight.

    That's my 2 cents.
