I use AdSense Notifier. It is a Firefox plugin which checks every 20 minutes my adsense income during the day and displays it at the bottom right of my browser. A few minutes ago I saw this: Trust me, that is not my info (over 1.5K and it's not even adsense mid-day?! $8/click? Nice!!). So anyone who gets that must be very happy. But the point is "Why am I seeing this info?". Anyway, at the following refresh the info got back to normal, to my $0.10/click... Thought of sharing with you..
i dont think it's "unsafe", i think it's just "imperfect".. mine also shows the occasional 'glitch', which is quickly cured by a refresh..
I think the concern is not a glitch in the numbers but the fact that the numbers are real and reflecting someone elses (maybe your) account.
I'm no programmer, but i highly doubt that Adsense notifier has the ability to somehow grab someone else's login name and password and accidentally display it. I am still of the opinion that it is simply mis-calculating, or somehow incorrectly reading the information.
From a programing standpoint thats a exploit on the server end not the client end. On your end you have ONLY your account info. There is no way for you to grab someone elses. The only way for you to even display their info is if for some reason google sends it to you. I have not looked too much at how google handles their sessions but in theory even with md5 sessions keys you can generate duplicate sessions. This is not a good thing at all to happen but the issue is on googles server not the FF2 plug-in. Assuming it is a session ID error the same thing could happen logging into the actual control panel. Statistics say the notifier has greater odds though
That was... very confusing So are you saying it's googles 'fault' per say? Hard time reading all that coder language
Google will issue you a sessionid that will look like this: 55185788cb1445addafa49b1c3b3a262 Basically a 33 character code that is supposed to be unique and expire at the end or your session, time limit, cookie settings or whatever they are using. I didn't look. But it is possible for two people to get issued the same IDs though its is very very rare with all the possible combos.
In my case AdSense Notifier ALWAYS shows more impressions than Google's report and ALWAYS the correct clicks and earnings. This of course has an impact on CTR etc, that show incorrect values. And this is going on ever since I have been using AdSense Notifier, more than a year that is. I always thought that for some reason AdSense notifier "reads" in some ways the total number of pageviews, while google reports only unique visitors. Can it be?
Adsense notifier also shows Referral impressions - maybe that accounts for the difference you're seeing..
It still doesn't make sense to me. Because if that is the case then I should be getting google's statistics x 2 (one for the ad unit, one for the referral in the same page)... Or x 3 (if there are 2 ad units + one referral). But it doesn't make sense because AdSense notifier should just read and report Google's numbers taken from Google's statistics. For example, at this very moment AdSense notifier reports 118 hits and 3 clicks, while Google reports 58 hits and 3 clicks... Of course CTR according to Google is 5,17%, while CTR according to AdSense notifier is 2,54%... I never got to understand what is going on with AdSense notifier but I'm using it just to see the earnings. For the rest, I don't trust it.
same here with "syssense". impressions are always way higher then in my account. about the first post: google changed something on their system some days ago, i also got wrong data on syssense. an update solved the porblem, so check the adsense notifier page!
I use it, and I don't even run google adsense on my website anymore. It's fun to stare at the $2.01 in my account after I stopped using it. It is kind of an inspiration to continue on, knowing that I have a $2.01 head start next time I put adsense on my website
I use it. I think the chances of it being unsafe are very low since a lot of people use it. It is conveniant and very nice addon for firefox. Lovely little piece of art (yes I consider it art :-P). Helps me stay sane and not check adsense 20times a day
lol, but dude that thing have an option that opens up your account directly by one click, it saves your password, it uses cookies or registry keys and both are hackable by noobs ... all they have to do is to install it on their pc, replace the cookies or the registry keys with the encrypted ones they took from you, click on the icon to log in automatically and BINGO ... just an Idea no time to try it so I have no proof V_V...
