yeah, might not be a good idea to place that stuff here, there are other places....

what will happen eventually, unless MySpace changes their direction, is someone will create a tool and release it via bittorrent. Possibly with source code. At that point, MySpace either has to clean up their act or sue EVERYONE according to their TOS, $50 per "commercial" message or anything unsolicited.

myspace is TERRIBLE... go to www.myspace.com/nin and scroll through the comments. About every other is an ad for a pornographic site. Even though they get hundreds of complaints every day about it, they seemingly don't do anything about those accounts. I guess they just want to go after anyone who distributes automation software, but it won't work for very long.

note: we have disabled comments because myspace is a cesspool of spammers.

    Taken from that URL.

Pretty dumb, they could have just disabled HTML comments.

OR even do like I did and set it such that I have to approve the comments.

I agree with the previous poster though, it seems like myspace is deathly slow to react to blatant offensive material and yet why the frig do I get punished for sending comments to MY friends of MY photography. harmless pictures I might add.

True, that would work much better.

Sometimes I think MySpace is moderated by a bunch of monkeys, all lined up banging on their keyboards.

nothing would illustrate that more than the 48-72 hour outage they experienced during the blackout in LA last summer.

I love when you email them about an issue (and not just profiles that should be deleted....like real threats) and it literally takes them 2 months to get back to you.

why don't they throw some of their resources towards customer service instead of suing and intimidating a small segment of the online community.

    Arent the robots a tool?

Why does it matter how someone uses it?

For example, a knife is a tool that can cut an apple, or it could kill someone. Should the government ban knives?

myspace marketing bots that automate the functions such as adding friends sending out comments/messages/bulletins

or if you are reffering to the "moles" staff from myspace...they would find out whats working and fix myspace to where it doesn't work

There are some still working (for how long, nobody knows) like Friend Adder .

I personally never liked Myspace. Bad design and strange people leaving comments...

As for the bots, well, people abused them. Myspace has the right to defend their business, or they will loose it (people stop using it due to spam, outages, etc).

Using it to accept friend requests is one thing. To spam is another.

If you use these bots the wrong way, well, Myspace seems to have a heavy hand...

I agree, they are tools but unfortunetly between phishing, spamming, and scamming MySpace got fed up I suppose.
MySp the scourge of the internet ;)
yes, the latter part. I'm hesitant to be speicifc on any thing...who knows who/what is out there and what/if they are watching now!!
you're not alone. MANY webmasters loathe MySp while others value it for traffic or did at one time!
    ***MOLE!!!!! :p

Yep Yep. Sometimes, focusing on manual and quality-based systems (that respects the TOS) produces the best results. Specially when there's a bot witch hunt afoot.
