Directories Worth Investing Into..

I've compiled a small list of web directories that are worth investing into. My list is small for the businessman on the budget, as one submission into each of the directories listed below will ring quite a total cost.

Is PageRank the primary benchmark you're using to determine the value? Just wondering, as I see the list is ordered by PR.

 

That's a great list, I'm checking some of the sites out now.

A little bit, as these sites seem to be valued/appreciated a lot more to search engines.

 

page rank is one of the biggest factors, but then we also expect some traffic, my pr3 webdirectory is also good, but then i would have been happier if it was pr5 or more........

To a directory, PR is the key factor for sure.

 

Really depends then on what category you're shooting for. I for example have listings in jewelry

Front page linked - PR5

NOT front page linked - PR3
http://www.alivedirectory.com/Shopping/Jewelry/

So front page PR or traffic should NOT be a factor if you are not on the front page.

 

I agree got some nice good ole links from PR8 directory and inner page is only 3 but shows as a strong link.

There are also links of inner page that is pr8 but hey I don't mind.

 

can you explain how they are valued a lot by search engines? any tool to check it? I am very interested to know how.

I don't disagree with your listings but these are a SAVINGS to the pocket now and is considered...

...ARMED and DANGEROUS.

I'll just say three facts. Yahoo! values its directory so much that it'll dramatically increase your keyword rankings within specific keywords that you specify by purchasing a link in their directory.

BOTW seems to be like Google's paid version of DMOZ (the way they value it ). AliveDirectory is getting up there and with the promotion and marketing the directory it gets, it is well worth submitting into.

 

Can you expand a bit more on how these are valued more to SEs?

Please don't take this as a challenge as it is not intended to be. I'm sincerely interested in what would make these more valuable.

Hate to disagree with you on this mate but I bought a BOTW link and it doesnt show on front of my best links. See Links Quitters that is a PR4 made in late 2006 my link submitted on January. My link in BOTW submitted in February not even in front page.

The company serves in whole State of Maryland Look at Google at how it fares.

Regardless of direct effect directories directly impact search engines, and many ( and it's growing ) directories rank by PR.

So regardless of direct impact there is impact.

 

Indeed a good list, my directories are listed on many of them and will now cover up whole of your list but here I would like to add two more directories, Elegant Directory and Romow Directory which are really worthy for investment and a valuable resource.

lots of inner PRs higher or equal. I even have a details page there that's a PR4.

 

Are you saying that high pr directories rank higher on the search engines than lower pr directories? If so, I can not agree with that statement.
