I'm from Holland and I can tell you no one there plays Cricket. So that's about as surprising as saying someone ate spaghetti in Italy last night.

Make that 6 sixes in a row (in one over) for Gibbs!
Boucher got the fastest 50 and South Africa also now has the record for the most sixes in a WC and ODI.

Amazing stuff to watch, especially after their shaky start!

South Africa is good at cricket. Never heard about the Holland cricket team. Now maybe if they defeated England or Australia.

as many people say that cricket is not a popular game in Holland at all or not mostly played on high level in Holland, and on the other side South Africa is one of the favorites to win the world cup.

so there is a lot of difference between these two..and cricket lovers already expecting something like what South Africa did today.

I missed it but I will have to watch the replay of the match. 6 6s in a row must be quite something.

I did and it was definitely amazing stuff. I couldn't believe it after the fourth one in a row, then they just kept coming.

Setting aside the popularity of cricket or the quality of the Dutch players it was still the most entertaining cricket I watched in years.

that was a real great match, i have seen that yesterday, only the last part.
i just opened the channel, when sauth africa was already above 300, then i say it was 37-38 overs, i thought that kalis will run with the bowling, and sauth africa will score 500+ runs.
unfortuantely, then i saw that the match was just 40 overs. anyways, the last over 6's was expected, as kalis plays that way.
i don't know how much the holland scored. i just went to sleep, today i have to see the whole match, as it's india vs the bangladesh. india will sure make more than the south africa scored, we have saurav ganguly, as they have jack kallis!
    cheers!:D

The game didn't start very well for South Africa. De Villiers went for a blob, and the first few overs didn't see any runs being scored. De Villier's failure was probably the only ''negative'' from the game.

Stelling bowled well initially (14 odd runs off 6 overs), but he was spanked in his last two overs.

Gibbs was 25 runs/28 balls- then scored 43 in his next 7  one six off Van Troost and then the six sixes off Van Bunge. I thought Van Bunge bowled very ordinarily in that over- it didn't look as if he wanted Gibbs to stop. Any which ways,Van Bunge has got his name into the record books too ;)

Johnny Walker will now have to pay 1 million US$ to a charity of Gibbs' choice- I don't think they were ever expecting six sixes to be scored.

Boucher's 147 against Zimbabwe is still fresh in my mind, and yesterday he really went after the bowling. Nothing unorthodox mind you, pure cricketing shots.

The Dutch didn't really have any variations in the way they bowled towards the end. Only Borren had the brains to follow the batsmen in the slog overs. He bowled full length and didn't give them any room. The rest were pretty identical, nice juicy full tosses, short of a length and half volleys- same dibby dobbly pace, asking to be hit.The short boundaries didn't help the Dutch cause.

Holland has about 7000 amateurs who play cricket. They need more exposure to ensure that they don't get tonked around like this. Kervezee is going to play county cricket in England for Worcestershire and more people need to do that.

The real test for South Africa will come against Australia. And remember that Ntini didn't play this game- if he had, the Dutch might not have crossed three figures.

This is not good match for cricket lover who want some good matches in World-cup. I think ICC should think about this next time.

They should make one tight groups where all 1 to 4 team playing each other.

Dutch spend good time on pitch.

I had knewed that SA will bash Holland. Gibbs played really played very well, and Kallis he is my favorite player.
