I have read where many sites, especially those in the adult industry, use traffic trade scripts. I got the idea that maybe I should look into them. I have read damn near everything I can find on traffic trade scripts, but I cannot understand how they help anyone. It is my understanding that the idea is to send some of your traffic to your trading partners, and in exchange they will send some back to you. Here are the questions that I just cannot seem to answer. Maybe someone would offer some comments. 1. What traffic are you sending to your partners? My visitors do one of 3 things .. they click away, they click on an internal link or they click to an affiliate site where I hope they buy something sometime. Do these scripts redirect someone clicking on a link to somewhere they had no intention of going? Wouldn't this greatly piss off my visitors? 2. It is also my understanding that these scripts try to keep the trading equal, meaning that if I send 100 visitors to trading partner A, then that trading partner should in turn send me 100 visitors. I don't see the benefit. You're giving away 100 visitors to get 100 visitors. A zero-sum gain? If anyone can spend a few minutes offering their comments I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks to all.
I'm no expert, but I think the idea is to have it on your site, so that if you setup a link exchange with someone, then you will only get hits back from a link off their site if your links stays on your site. So it runs is accordance with how many visitors you send them or how many they send you. If I have a list of 20 link partners on my homepage, then the ones positioned at number one will be sending ME more traffic that the one;s lower down. Also like I said it stops anyone deleting your link and keeping all the traffic you send to them. Which is a great feature. Some can even be setup so that your site needs to send say 50 or how ever many visitors before 1) your link appears on their site to start with or 2) you need to send them so many clicks a day before your site even appears, each day. This would be only on sites who have very high traffic and u ask for an exchange with them. The upside being that you could have a link swap and the lesser traffic site could be sending them 2 hits a day when you could be getting over 1000 from them, or whatever. The advabtages of a link swap is to get visitors that you would not have got. If they go to one of your lnk parners site, then so be it, it all goes around again, eg you get hits from other sites that the visitor may not have found if you had not been link exhanging with them. The trick would be to make your site better, so instead of your visitors going to a link partners site after coming to yours, they stay, check back or even bookmark your site. Hopefully buying via your affiliate links if your site is "better". Its hard to explain, but I also thought the same, that it was the same old traffic going around, but its not, it's all good for your site. I hope this helps and I have explained it reasonably well.
Yes! Now I understand some of the advantages. 1. If I send 1000 visitors to a site and they send 1000 to me, then it's not a zero-gain transaction. I in fact have had 2000 uniques see my pages, instead of just the original 1000. If it's good traffic then who know what will happen right? 2. The script keeps everybody honest. Yes. Streamed porn video sites, have links to porn videos on other porn sites ~ and that kindof chains around... if that's what you mean by traffic exchange?
I come across this forum by chance and thought I contribute a little. Traffic trading in the adult business is not something like setting the script on auto drive and your site will grow. Most if not all adult webmaster including myself have the script trading method set up to be based on productivity ( Click per unique visitors. ) Yes most of the clicks are blind links, but seasonal porn surfers are use to that. Sending 1000 visitors to your trade partner's site does not mean you will get 1000 back, whether it will be more or less depends on the quality of the traffic. There are many many other factors for the traffic trade to work effectively, but then here is not the right place to discuss.
