Seems like ypn has been cancelling more and more accounts lately. Has anyone gotten their account closed as well? I gotta look for a new one now. If anyone knows of one for sale, please let me know.
what kind of sites were you running? who were they targetted towards? did you use categorty targetting? what was the reason they terminated? how long have you been in the program? thanks, if you can answer. im keeping a tally on who, what, where, when and why people get terminated.
thats my personal theory, though never proven or confirmed. 90+% of the reported publishers terminated in the last 6 months were using category targetting and getting the low conversion email. again, just a theory.
I keep hearing that lots of people are getting their YPN accounts terminated. I have had my account from the time YPN beta started and it is still going strong. I think they have to be some reason for the terminations of account. Some violation of terms or account not performing. Maybe to many non converting clicks.
thats what they are saying now. low conversions. the question i always wonder is how do they know if your clicks are converting or not.
Don't know how they know which clicks convert or not. Maybe advertisers get a code for the order page or maybe it is just feedback from the advertisers. I got an email from yahoo saying that they are pleased with my account but i don't think i am doing anything speacial. Maybe its the high level of traffic i get. Not sure.
About 4-5 month ago. Actulally it was a repply to me sending them an email asking them id my site was violating any of their terms.
What is happening is big advertisers for insurance for instance (which lot of myspace sites targeted) contact YPN and say hey we spent 100K last month and our converts SUCKD compared to G and majority of the clicks came from X sites please look into improving it. so quickest way for Y to do this is just ban the Userid associated to that account.
Does Yahoo ban accounts or can they ban URLs? What I mean is can they let your ads run on some sites and ban ads on others within the same account?
im sure they could. i seem to remember someone being banned from using category targetting and they got the full termination a few weeks later. as far as i know, ypn is not banning individual domains or urls. they are terminating on the whole.
If YPN has a problem with one of your urls or sites they will ask you to fix the problem. If they are not satisfied with your account on a whole then you get the boot.
Thanks karagold and cool-dude for the information! I have spoken with Yahoo and they told me that in some instances they do ban URLS/Domains within an account as long as the other URLS/Domains in that same account meet their TOS and are not having a problem. If all of your sites have the same problem then you get the boot! Also, I was told that if a site was banned for any reason and it is sold/transferred or another YPN account is used on it then it is already flagged(up for review) and will be terminated within 15 to 20 days if the original problem still exists. So, if you are buying any sites be careful that you are not buying one that has been banned in the past! I hope that this information helps the cause of us honest ones!
You are welcome karagold! It seems that YPN is evolving and more information will come out and I guess that they will tighten things up as they go!
