The same old number of backlinks are seen. Either it may be with the tool provided or with google webmaster tool.

Some of these guys are still a little behind. There is no google backlink update going on (at least that I can see). Although I did see a temporary pr roll back for a second in the toolbar today.

Guys, the original poster did not know what Google backlinks were, please stop saying you don't see any changes yet!

Ok, taking bets now on how many more people reply without reading the whole thread. :p

Actually, I was asking if anyone else was seeing in increase in their google backlinks. If you take a look at the title of hte original post, you'll see it ends with a question mark.

    Thanks for your input, though.

    This was your opening statement.

When queried about it, you indicated that you actually did not know the difference between Google Backlinks, and someones tool that showed you Google, Yahoo, and MSN backlinks combined.

You incorrectly indicated that you saw an change in Google backlinks, why you would try and pretend otherwise now is beyond me. I didn't post what you replied to for you... I posted for all of those people who are reading your original post, who were not realizing that you were wrong because they read the first post and replied without reading the rest of the thread.

They are replying answering my original question. Do you fail to grasp that, or are you just ignoring it?

The fact that I didn't relaize the tool I was using doesn't show only google backlinks is irrelevent. Querying in Google directly, I'm still seeing an slight increase in backlinks, although no where near as dramatic as I first thought.

The question was, is google is the process of updating their backlinks? Are you seeing an increase in in backlinks from google?

I invite everyone to continue to answer the question.

No, it's not. People don't randomly ask "is the BL update happening right now?" It's enough of an event, and rare enough, that they either see it or they heard that someone else saw it before posting a thread like this. Now, had you asked "When will the next backlink update be", that would be understandable. Newbie-ish without a doubt, but that does happen.

Now you're lying (unless the update started within the past 30minutes or so, in which case I would apologize, but the odds are quite high that it didn't) (just checked, just in case, btw, and yes I would have apologized). Are you phobic about admitting you were wrong? What's the deal here? Is the act of saying "Whoops, my bad" so painful?

Yes, it was definitly my bad that I didn't realize the tool I was using was pooling backlinks from several search engiens, and not just google. I should have known jsut by the sheer number of backlinks that were being displayed. The number in that tool did jump by several hundred, and I guess I got a little carried away thinking this in some way might coorolate to the highly anticipated google pr update. Looks like I jumped the gun.

When a use a more google specific tool, the shows backlinks on all datacenters, such as http://oy-oy.eu/google/links/ , It still looks as though those numbers may have increased, although I will admit to not keeping close track of that count. And the number is also accross all datacenters, which I would also not expect. So, unless they've updated backlinks accross all datacenters already, my Google backlinks may not have updated as I had first thought.

    Better?

Well, yeah. Btw, just so you know, the post pointing out that you had been wrong, in big bold letters, wasn't to point out that you had been wrong to you... it was directly aimed at all the people who reply without actually reading the thread. Sorry if it sounded like I was picking on you, that was not my intent. God forbid that I ever be that critical of someone just making a mistake, considering all the ones I have made and am sure to make in the future. :D

Paul8368 - I think it might be explained in the top sticky thread labeled Google FAQ, or you can read some about them here: http://www.14thc.com/seo-primer.html

Google is always updating there links, I have went from 500 to 7k links in 2 months, google is always updating there links, the spider is always going through the web, and looking for sites that link to sites, but its a little bit more in depth then that.
