Hey, I would just like some information about when you start up a new forum. I am asking these questions as I have a phpBB forum, which is hosted by a free forum provider. Well anyway I am backing up the database and I am purchasing an host, and domain and I am also getting a vBulletin owned lisence. I will restore the database onto the new vBulletin forum. However, even though the database is old, the forum location is going to be new. I would just like to know all sorts of tools, websites, or other things that will make my forum popular and will get me good stats. I would like to know everything you woul suggest doing to a new forum, to get it going good. Also I will be placing Google AdSence onto the forums so I can make some money off the forums. So any information which will help me maximise the amount of revenue would be great. Thanks, BlueEew.
In general forums are not the best way to earn something, so don't hope to much. And to get your forum active you just have to advertise it and create good content (and lots of it). You can also write a few articles and submit them to article directories.
The best way to start up a new forum is to get lots of posts on it. Click the first link in my sig to see the software I use to fill my forums with user generated content.
The database is already active, basically I just want a list of directories and all sorts of stuff that I can add my new forum loaction to. Thats if any is even needed of corse.
Duplicate content isn't an issue. The templates of the forum pages are so different to the Yahoo answers templates that it would be very hard to identify it as duplicate content. The thing to remember is that this software is designed to kick start your forum, not to fill it forever. Once you have kick started it then you will have lots of real users creating content for you.
