they may raise your PR. but it all depends on the PR of each directory. When i pay for submissions to directories, it hardly helps at all since half of them don't even approve your link... but you probably want to focus more on getting your site into quality directories or higher PR directories rather than hundreds of directories.
good question. I would like a list of maybe 10 good ones that could really help PR and SEO. Hopefully someone can give us a good answer. My guess is that it depends on their pagrank.they don't help too much more than any other high PR link. But I imagine the major directories like DMOZ & Yahoo will always help.
Submitting to high PR directories can help push your site up in SE rankings as Google counts the backlinks to your site in its ranking algo.
I don't think many web directories help directly on your traffic, but more on the PR side of things. The better the directory and the higher it's PR the better PR gain you are likely to receive.
I lost count a while back . I paid for 1,500 I think, and I did probably another 1,500 on my own? That's just a guess though. Plus links to Alive, Aviva, Ask, Octopedia, etc etc.
Yes, they do help. Last month I submitted to a load of directories and got a pr 3 site. The site was new and un-touched. I wouldn't say you get much traffic from this, but you do get to be known by google better. Nothing wrong with that right?
I own a lot more than two sites. I actually just sold a few directories for a total of about $3,500, so I don't have any directories left.
ok, well you say you submitted to about 3,000 total, are these random? i bought services here yesterday for 500 submissions to pr4 directories, Would you say theres a good chance my site will have PR4 by next update?
No, doesnt guarantee it. But it will definitely help your sites PR. Also depends on whether or not you get accepted and how long they take to accept you. If they take long and big g does an update then it wont help you too much.
