Just curious to if starting a rumor now and then on your website will bring in alot of traffic :p

for example something about a tv series being cancelled ect. or a celeb with a drug prob

A rumour will definitely pique some interests, but if you do it too often, remember the boy who cried wolf. People might associate your posts as outright lies after a while and you lose credibility.

IMHO, works in the short term, but suicide in the long term.

I don't use rumors, not that desperate. It would work (just like bashing and flame wars) but there are tons of other things that work...just depends on if you are comfortable with using them ;)

sounds like a good idea, make an article submit it to sites like digg...but it could also backfire giving your site a bad rep.

I guess that if you say a celeb has a drug problem or not and they then get hold of you they could take you to court or something for trying to damage their career.

I personally wouldn't do it, but then it depends on how you go about it. There are most probably ways of doing it where you can pull it off.

    Careful, careful. :(

The legal issues that could arise from this might be a bit more than you bargained for.

I would recommend against it. Furthermore, as has already been mentioned, the traffic would be a flash in the pan, so to speak. In other words, it would not be long lasting.
