    Hello All,

I am making a new multi language website for webdesign.

So here are the domains type for all language:

    www.xyz.com ( main domain)
    www.de.xyz.com, www.fr.xyz.com and so on..

So please suggest that if i will go for subdomain for other
language..is it ok for google and i can go for website promotion in
all language. Google will consider my subdomains and will not give any
    penalty to main domain..

    Thanks
    Vishal

There is no problem in going with sub-domains for other languages. You might also consider looking at domain.com/en domain.com/fr .. since the content will be in different languages, you will not observe any penalty.

What about www.german.xyz.com and so on instead of de? It's better for SEO.. and easier to remember ;)

Try this, open google.com and type Pspad in the search box. The results from pspad.com will show a small snippet beneath itself. That's how your site will show up if you use domain.com/en .. I have not see that for en.domain.com for any of the sites yet, but should work that ways too .. ! I hope you are getting the idea here..

Correct! One must use two letter code for languages and search engines seems to recognize it.

Oh that is true, I'm not too famliar with forgein SEs. If the target is other countries as well, then that would work best.

    I'd prefer the www.domain.com/language/ structure.

Subdomains and subfolders have advantages and disadvantages:

    * Sites using subdomains can be submitted in multiple locations of a directory :)
    * Sites using subdomains requires more maintenance :(
    * Sites using subfolders provide consistent domain structure :)

There are issues that need to be considered with languages. Since there are countries that use more than one language (Switzerland uses French, German and Dutch) and languages used by more than one country (Spanish in Mexico is different than Spanish in Spain) let's be careful with this pitfall. Unless these languages are not included in your site.
