Jumpstart your marketing campaign by joining an affiliates network. A throng of affiliates will be making the marketing job for you. And in our network, you will still a have a lot of budget left for other advertising campaigns.

    1. Submit in 10-12 high profile directories including business.com, dir.yahoo.com and MSN dir.
    2. Review me, Payperpost is a god idea.
    3. Buy some traffic from stumble upon.
    4. Hire few good bloggers, pay them $15-$30 per post and ask them to generate some good viral content, and also submit it to other social networking sites like del.icio.us, digg etc...
    5. Do some contest on your blog/site and pay users who help you promote it.

Forget Federated Media, and PPC for a while until some good worth of content is generated. $5000 is a good budget, if spend wisely you can get a good mileage from it.

What do you mean by "new kind"? What's new and different about it? If it's really unique, I'd say start some grassroots efforts to build pre-launch buzz, rather than falling back on what most site owners do. Real promotion means getting exposure and setting yourself apart from everything else that's new out there. Give us a little bit of info on the actual site, and we can give you better ideas. Promotion tips are worthless if they're not tailored to your individual site.

I would invest part of the money in a huge link baiting campaign.

Just a heads up. I own an online digital downloads store and make only $0.008 a visitor.
