I saw something about this on the news the other day, that the surge was working quite well.

This will infuriate those that want terrorists to win. They know who they are ;)

Yeah pity Iraq is a lot bigger than just one city. Some drop in figures there, nearly ready to send the troops home then? http://icasualties.org/oif/Cumulative.aspx

    Hmm nice to hear that.

Just for the reminder. The american army has the same number of soldiers in Iraq as the number was in the beginning. The surge was necessary because of dead and wounded soldiers which was around 20 000 from the start of war.

I am glad for soldiers but what will they do with people blowing off at marketplace etc .... that is the problem ....

Another problem they face is when they do be sent home. Many are faced with mental issues from the war.

I love it when people use graphs such as these....no matter how you look at it, it looks like american troops deaths have risen significantly...that first graph make it look like we will never win...the fact is the graph is more up and down than what that one shows...All it shows is an incline, which is always going to get the message across that more are dying. If they wanted to be true to the cause, they would show a more detailed graph that showed rises and drops in % amounts, rather than a physical number...the physical number can never drop. Once a troop has been killed, they are a number, and that number cannot be taken away. But who cares, boo america, right??

Yeah so do I as they are usually compiled from statistics rather than that propaganda spew you linked too that showed no real value.

Boo America? Come back to reality mate.

I'm just posting good news for our troops, unlike you who reminded us of all the deaths that have happened...let me guess, you want the troops home yesterday, right?

d16man ... soldiers are dead in every war. You have to expect this.
What about Iraqi civilians ? What will US do to prevent dead Iraqi civilians. After all US started this war and it is their responsibility ....

they are like bombs, you can only use them once, they'll soon run out of them.

sad thing is, they are targeting the children, and they call themselves men? nothing but yellow belly scum, thats all a martyr is, a coward

Death rate went not down, thats just propaganda and wishfull thinking.
    Take a look at this:
    http://icasualties.org/oif/

You need like 2 mio soldiers to control the hole country, just 20 000 more makes no differents.

the percentage rate did go down...in the last month, the percentage rate of american casulties was down 60%...to post a linik to your biased site, which proves me right, take a look at this chart:

    http://icasualties.org/oif/US_Chart.aspx

again, the body count will never go down, that is physically impossible...however the % rate can go down, and has...why are you so bent on posting the negative news instead of looking at the positive?

i hope the trend continues and we can bring them home before xmas that would be great
but i fear that the violence is down because the shia have decided to let the coalition troops kill the sunni for them so they have dissolved in the population.
now we just have to see when and why they will become active again.

I doubt one group is "letting the US" kill the other....remember, our troops arn't there just to kill everyone, right now they are there more as peacekeepers than anything else...but as long as people are shooting at them, they are going to shoot back.

Yes it only seems to you or you kind of heard it didn't you ?

And Saddam's killings are nothing compared to today's anarchy.

Do you know rules of war ? The one who is occupying the country, which at this moment US is have to maintain security and order. I don't see US doing good job... do you ?

I just hope us army don't just leave Iraq and leave all those people there ...

if the muslims would stop killing those they hate (the other muslims), then we could leave...I don't see us as occupying the country...we have roughly 120,000 troops there, in a country that has millions of citizens...occupying would mean that we have completely taken over and would outnumber the citizens...
