    Hi,

    Hi,

I heard about this software Affiliate Link Cloaker at www.affiliatelinkcloaker.com

Is not cloaking bad and SE may ban if we cloak links to pages?

    Anyone used this software?

Further - I did buy it and I asked this question to Jim Edwards and here is his reply.

    Jim Edwards replied...

    Great question... shows you're thinking.

The cloaking they talk about banning for is when you serve one page to the SE's and another page to visitors based on IPs... not the type of cloaking we're talking about here.

    Any comments to this reply.

    Thanks

You should have study first the software before you bought it. Or hear some comments about it.

Anyway, what's the use of that so-called "link cloaker" software?

    Hi,

ALC software cloakes the affiliate links so that the naked link "naked" link
    http://www.33daystoonlineprofits.com/?24634

    becomes

    http://www.7dayebook.com/33days.html

Its pleasing to look and it ebmedes my affliate link in it so that there is no affiliate income.

It comes with a 60 day money back guarantee. I was not knowing this feature so bought it.

But Jim Edwards seems pretty convincing just wanted to ask if there were any users here.

    Thanks.

I used javascript to show the main url rather than the affiliate subpage when a user puts his mouse over the link.

why not make it as landing page first, opt-in and take them to the affiliated page ?

There's a few freebie javascripts that can do the same thing if you just want to show clean affiliate links? Cant remember though but am looking.

There is a free program that basically mirrors their site from your url so that you dont show any referral link at all.

To hide / cloak aff links, you could also use redirect instruction inside your htaccess file.

It makes aff outbound links more natural.

I did the same thing, but did it by redirecting using the htaccess file + hiding the "subfolder" I'd created using the robots.txt file

Coders always think it's easy; tweek this, tweek that and it's done. They have trouble understanding how difficult it can be for someone who doesn't do code :)

Lol, its a bit more confusing then just exit.php?id=1

Need a database, read in the address from the db with id 1 and then forward. It is really simple to code if you know anything about php.

EDIT: wrote the script - available for download
    http://www.wmtoolbox.com/tools/forward/

Cloaking is definately not a good thing, but then again google will only just penalize you in search engines. If you're cloaking only an affiliate link that's okay since it's just to redirect.
