The contest will be held through March 19th to create a logo for a new site, USToday.com. If we decide to use the winning design, I will pay the winner $100.00 via verified PayPal. If we don't find a design that we want to use, we will still select the best entry and pay a consolation prize of $10.00. About USToday: UStoday is an informative blog, about online shopping and online services with a target audience of Upper-Middle Class Americans. It will review the newest luxury websites and services as well as existing websites. It will also offer informative shopping guides. This is not a "how to get the most bang for your buck" website and the logo should reflect that. Examples: What to look for when shopping for ______. How to keep your information private on the internet. Audience: Audience is Upper Middle Class Amercian’s with varying ranges of online experience / online shopping experience. These individuals often have impeccable taste in the finer things of life. Tone: The Logo needs to be highly brandable with a recognizable color scheme (I.e. Techcrunch / Mashable). Web 2.0 look and tone is fine. The key is the logo must be brandable so when part of the logo is seen the company comes to mind. I.E. the Target (retailer) symbol. We like the look and feel of the www.luxist.com something that implies good taste for the finer things of life. USToday is in no way affiliated with any news source and it should not look like any logos related to a new source. Requirements/Other Info: • Logo should be presented in both square (1:1) and rectangular (2 high:5 wide) formats that are easily scalable • Winner will need to provide us with JPG PNG, and PSD/EPS files • All work should be completely original and not contain or infringe upon any third party designs or elements • All submissions will be considered "work made for hire" and we will obtain exclusive global rights to the winning design upon payment • We will try to provide feedback on submissions and questions at least once per day through March 19th • Enter as many times as you like. Winner will be selected at our sole discretion Feel free to contact me on AIM or MSN, if you have any questions. Thank you very much for your entries!
It's a a few days left to the 19'th, I'm sure you get some amazing logo's til then Might try myself if I find time. Just one thing: "If we don't find a design that we want to use, we will still select the best entry and pay a consolation prize of $10.00." So basically you could lie and say you don't like any logo's and only pay $10 instead of $100 and still use it?
No this is defiantly not the case. To be honest I copy and pasted someone else's format for a contest. We will pay $100 if we find a logo we will use. Also, you could sue if we did use a logo and didn't pay for it.
hi, here is my entry, as I'm English my knowledge of America isn't great, so when I thought about the US, the flag sprung to mind, the US people are so proud of it and patriotic I thought it was a good representation of the country
Hey there - I see only 1 entry right now ? or there are more through PM system ? I am going to give it a shot and submit within a few days.
Feedback, I sat down with the man that owns the site last night and walked through all of the logos with him. Think more web 2.0 and less patriotic. No flag in the logo. Stars are fine, stay away from stripes. Also, think of a symbol you can tie into the design, the more original the better. Mix up the colors a bit as well. Blue and Red are oblivious choices, be he doesn't want the site to be blue and red. Keep it eye appealing with understated elegance. Remember this cannot look anything like a news site logo. Tropica, Good attempt but not quite the look and feel we are after. A little too patriotic. citation-x_pilot – Shopping cart doesn’t quite reflect what upper middle class – to high class think of when purchasing items. Think concierge. Brown_Cow – I really like the logo, the man that has final say thinks it looks too much like a news site. Dvirhazout – nice try, he didn’t go for the flag. Jinsona – lose the flag, more web2.0 add some bevel and emboss + a drop shadow. Xpressions – Great look and feel. Give the letters some bevel + eboss / drop shadow. DaveyBoy – Nice attempt, see what you can do to clean up the star (lower image). Contact me if you have any questions over aim, msn or pm. Thanks and Good Luck!
