and yet I could care less about 3/4ths of these shows, and never have sought the other 1/4 of them on youtube:

    money grubbers.

just like the music industry, they are just upset that they didn't get the drop on digital downloads and how to make money off of that.

    an oversimplification perhaps...

I agree, about them getting sued atleast. I hope they stay online, they still offer a great service.

Anyways, I don't get why people turn a blind eye when G and Youtube are basically stealing from the people who produce the content.

If it was a dirty DVD pirate downtown no one would question an arrest, but there is outcry about G and Youtube. Please.

Thats like pocket change to them.

Its still g....err...dumb though, but youtube needs to keep a closed eye on all the copyrighted material on youtube.

Excellent publicity for both party's I think, this is sure to run for a while...

What's the betting it gets settled "out of court" on "undisclosed terms"?

Nothing will happen with this. It's Google.
They will go to court, and will win because their TOS says they aren't responsible for any content that goes on the site.

Viacom needs to get over it. They suck anyways.

    I disagree.

If Google continues to get bad news their stock will drop and it will hurt Google very much.

Well, with the absolutely astronomical amount of copyrighted material on there they shouldn't of had to wait too log lol. Same with GoogleVideo and DailyMotion too to name but a few.

I think by suing those two who founded youtube, they didn't think they could get anything but a cease and desist order. They waited until it became clear that money was to be made (Google paid over a billion for some reason) and they had a "deep pocketed" defendant. Of course, I imaging some kind of nice deal is being made, now that a system to profit from all this is coming into place.
