New to YPN! How long to get relevant ads? CTR is terrible

Discussion in 'Publisher Network' started by Motter, Mar 12, 2007.

I've been publishing YPN ads for 2 days now and they are terribly irrelevant. My ctr is 1/15 of what I was getting with google ads. And these ads aren't paying fifteen times more.

How long until YPN starts dishing me up with more relevant ads?

How long does it take for the "ad targeting" tool to take effect?

Thanks for the help in advance :)

if you are using category targetting, you should have "targetted" ads within a couple hours, if not within an hour. if you havnt gotten them yet, call ypn, they will help figure out why you arent getting category ads. the url you input for targetting is sensitive and has to be put in correctly to function properly.

if you are using contextual targetting you may or may never get targetted ads, depending on a variety of on-page and off-page factors.

so many people come in expecting 15 times the rpc of google and then have their "dreams" crushed. while some niches pay more, some pay the same and less. ctr, no matter what (in my experience) is always lower, even if you have targetted ads. but again, this is dependant on so many out of your control factors.

Good luck! I found that YPN ad targeting has gotten worse the past few weeks. On some sites however, it's not too bad.

My advice is to use ad targeting tool to target ads that are relevent to your users.

YPN haven't been able to issue out it's relevancy issues for the longest time. The other main issue is that they expect publishers to deliver US traffic. I don't know if they have smoothen out these issues yet but I sure hope that I don't have to deal with them when they launch YPN internationally...

ROFL... you want competition with publishing. That's what will drive Yahoo to be a better ad server and will also drive advertisers to use ypn. I'll try it again in a month or so but as for now, you can keep it

lol. i'll take it for sure. same with everyone else. the more competition, the less advertiser budget to go around. yahoo will develop a better ad server because they need to do that to be in this game. advertisers will use ypn if publisher traffic converts for them. but hey, thanks! i wonder if i will notice a 1 cent increase in my avg rpc for whatever niche you might be in; assuming im in it too. lol.
