Well it is a great suggestion from samantha and i agree with Summer too. I think if not the others then atleast the popup thing is good to implement. So that if a negative iTrader is given in a thread, then a small alert popup comes warning that "Warning : The thread starter has recieved a negative iTrader for this thread"
i am not a programmer so i dont know what can be done, but this is what i see here. #1 person offers pr7 links for sale, $10 each (thread maker sammy) #2 10 people buy links, only 7 get them #3 3 people then make posts about being scammed, (get infractions for it) #4 3 people wont give neg itrader knowing they will get one back. #5 thread maker wont refund, so 3 people get more angry, (then banned) #6 (thread maker) scams 3 people walks away with thier money, and has no neg itrader. and only has good itrader even though he scammed 3 people scammed $30 #1 person offers pr6 links with free banner $35 a year, (thread maker sammy) #2 10 people buy at $35, only 7 get them. #3 3 people then make posts about being scammed, (get infractions for it) #4 3 people wont give neg itrader knowing they will get one back. #5 thread maker wont refund, so 3 people get more angry, (then banned) #6 (thread maker) scams 3 people walks away with thier money, and has no neg itrader. and only has good itrader even though he scammed 3 people scammed $105 still no neg itrader to show. #1 person offers pr8 links for $100 a year, (thread maker sammy) #2 10 people buy at $100, only 7 get them. #3 3 people then make posts about being scammed, (get infractions for it) #4 3 people wont give neg itrader knowing they will get one back. #5 thread maker wont refund, so 3 people get more angry, (then banned) #6 (thread maker) scams 3 people walks away with thier money, and has no neg itrader. and only has good itrader even though he scammed 3 people scammed $300 scammed in all $435 and no neg itrader to show for it. you see a patten here because it is all on one page and only used 3 posts and scammed $435 from 9 people. there are threads in here that a seller has sold to 100+ people in one thread DP banned 9 good members and kept the scammer. dont you see anything wrong here? what i am suggesting is this: on the #1 post (thread maker sammy) have an icon that if enough people click that have posted in the deal when they leave neg itrader, the (thread maker sammy) cant leave retaliation neg itrader and a banner on the 1st post is shown, to warn people to read the thread carefully. and DP can track the clicks on the 1st post as it is connected to a username, and ban the scammer when you see a patten build up. if this was done, then the rules can be set so as anyone making a post about scammers gets a weeks ban. that will force them to think twice and use the system. just how you code it? well shawn thats what you're best at huh? given a problem, you work out how to do it. you posted here how you were bored and came up with the adsharing script sammie x
The only way it would work is if it *didn't* take into account other member's feedback. You would just get someone creating 30 fake accounts so they can target someone specifically. I don't think there's a better way to do it... and I also suspect that's why eBay doesn't work that way... you would just end up with people creating a zillion eBay accounts to make themselves look good or someone else look bad if they can have a direct affect on how the rating system works.
Then maybe you should just allow nice, reputable, friendly, fair (and a few more superlatives) people like myself just bring the hammer down on these people, based purely on evidence that I may or may not consider...
the difference is that ebay is automated joining, here you verify each new account, because you caught all 10 accounts i did while banned, and even added an extra one that i didnt make, to my credit. so i cant see anyone making 30 accounts, and as it takes 4-12 hours before ok them, they would have cooled down.
Accounts are not manually verified actually, you don't really think it's practical for someone to manually look through 200 or so accounts that sign up each day and remember everything about the 60,000+ other accounts to skim for anything suspicious do you?
