I have a domain called istud.net. I wanted to sell it. I have listed it on ebay. But on one has bid on my domain yet. One surprising thing happened yesterday, I got mail from "Elsker" <business@superelsker.com> , something like this : DBT Technologies <business@superelsker.com> wrote: Hello, What is the price you can accept for your domain? Our company develops client-server systems in Delphi and MS SQL Server. We work as contractors of a big corporation. So domain names for us is just a part of investing. If you offer more domains for sale with good reselling potential please email us your list. Looking forward to do business with you. I replied the mail and though that someone is offering me for my domain but could not give them prize. I wrote : What best price you can offer me for the domain istud.net ? I have another domains for sell but it will be good if we talk first about istud.net Now I got this reply today : I need to know the lowest price you can accept: $5,000 or even $10,000 USD? Please let me know as soon as possible. Now what do you think guys ? This could be a scam ? I have never expected the istud.net's value such a high. I listed on ebay for starting bid of $600. Can anyone suggest me what to do now ?
Offer to sell, insist on using escrow and don't allow valuations. Chances are he'll ask for a valuation from Companies A, B or C - all of which will cost you $$$ - and he's on commission. Once he gets the valuation he'll back out of the sale. On the other hand he might just be genuine and have the money to throw around. In which case he won't have a problem with escrow (protects him too) and you'll be all the richer
I get exactly the email for my all domain which are parked and for sale in SEDO. I wrote them back for info. They just offer escrow service that's all. It's a new type of commerical
This is definately an appraisal scam. Seems like everyday someone's getting these emails from the same appraisal scammer. Wants you to appraise your name at his company, then you'll never hear from him again. I got a very similar one about 2 months ago but ignored it. What to do? Ignore it or have some fun & play along & mess with the scammer. Or if you want, sign his email up to spam email services like what someone on Namepros did
Yes, this scam has been around for long time. At namepros there are many threads making people aware of this and other common scams, have a look www.namepros.com/warnings-and-alerts
I don't think anyone sold any domains to them, only been scammed or was lucky or knowledgeable enough not to be scammed by them.
This looks sort of familiar : http://www.namepros.com/warnings-and-alerts/179789-domain-name-appraisal-scam.html
I got the same things for my domain MyRazrV3 (dot) com. I replied and asked for an offer and didn't hear back from them. I think it's definitely a scam.
