Hey guys, Where is the best place to put adsense on a page with a 2000 word blog post. What kind of format should I use? For all three ad units. Currently, I am using Large Rectangles (336x280) on the top, middle, and near the bottom of the posts. I'm thinking of making it a bit smaller (a 468x60 banner). Would that be a good idea? It looks better and less intrusive. And where is the best place to put them? Here's an example of what I'm talking about: http://www.urbanmonk.net/28/happiness-how-to-maximise-pleasure-and-joy/ Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
there is a long thread about ad palcement http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2397137#post2397137 in that a.m. i have explained in very detail all in addition you may find most useful info in my blog signature look at the suggestions I had about a horror-site with dark(black) bg colors that applies to your blog as well !!! my blog is highly successful with CTR and eCPM now well in 2 digits and moswt of my posts are looooong up to several printing pages have a look at - precise color scheme of ads / link units vs my page colors - color scheme background and pages - precise ad placements - precise ad formats = all ads displayed are out of the 3 successful formats G publishs - precise link unit placements every single of above is the result of most intense research on my part and has an equal contribution to the great success of my adsense in my blog as well as in my entire site. while my blog is but a small share of my site's traffic - may be some 20% or so, the blog alone - when the ongoing success continues - will exceeed 1k$ this months have a look at my blog and see how much of the success-contributing/creating factors you want to apply the combination of all result in my blog-success if a fraction of the a.m. factors alone also will improve succfess is questionable. you may also benefit from the newly started adsense optimization and success in web publishing tips I have started in my blogs category Internet ... Good luck
Hi Hans, thanks for the long reply! I am a bit confused here as your websites go against what I've read so far - blended ads are supposed to be better? So what colours would you suggest? If I change the black background, can I keep the red? I am not good enough to modify the template too much, all I know is photoshop =( And you mean I have to keep the ads a different color from the background? What about the placements? Any advice would be appreciated, as this is really confusing me! It's totally against everything i've read so far, but the other thread you've shown me has really good responses!
but all your questions are answered in very details - in earlier large threads here in DP forum http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2397137#post2397137 and more detailed bay be in my blog - see sig link as to your knowledge about templates ... i was born baby and had to learn to read and write then I grow up farmer son in the mountains i knew about plants and herbs and nature and God but I had to learn ALL about computer etc I guess you may just have to kick your onw axx and do some more learning IF u ever want to be MORE successful knowing one topic in life never is enough to survive and even less to be happy and succeed in a pleasant life just sit down and search about tutorials and basic web designs as to bg colors - what I published is valid for all dark bg re blending etc look at how others CTR/eCPM is before you compare suggestions is there ctr 1-2% 2-5% 5+ or 10+ % site wide ?? then make up your mind based on facts and success it's easy to go from 1% to 5% but far much harder to go frm 5% to 10+% !! take plenty of time to read all and compare NUMBERS then make your decision about HOW MUCH success you want - a little - a little more - quiet a bit - a lot - max possible ?? the key point is: if you create ONE quantity of unique content and publish it within ONE unit of time the time and investment to create that content is exactly the very same whather you do maximum optimization in ALL aspects = SEO AND adsense the final difference AFTER your full investment of time and $ to create content you have either 20$ / day or 120$/day in your account the price and effort to get ANY of them is exactly the same! example: the last 2 weeks i invested an additionalo 2,5$ in photo hardware - the next 2 weeks or so i invest another 1k$ in travel for photo sessions that amount is FIX - what I get OUT of that depends only on optimization to the very max in all parts of web publishing - because before and after all that investment there still need to be a few k$ for the purpose of my work - charity. in addition to all said I know for example a business owner in hotel industry in a tough competition environment - his adwords on my site and other PH related sites have helped hm to be almost always booked out - assuring him that his large family business can survive. and there are many small business who depend on adsense efficiency to get the max $ ROI for their invested business venture. adsense optimization is FAR more than just your own bank account - it's about prosperity or bankruptcy of other business as well - and some $ for G as well to keep up the good work G has done for all of us the past many years .... I consider adsense fully optimized also a service to the entire global business community - and business = humans / families with children fathers mothers ... well worth to learn templates and stuff !!! IMO
much thanks, I am learning templates now... I've changed the colors and the banner, what do you think? www.urbanmonk.net
i see still dark and tiring / uncomfortable colors as before if any change then it was a micro change i think pain or lack of success may help you more than thousand words i wrote before you worry far too much about adsense and far too little about creating more exciting and attractive content your site still is a mini-site if it is too hard to understand that friendly bright colors are here 2 examples - one author http://www.viaggiscoop.it/ he followed the advice to the point and nearly doubled his ctr to far above 5% instantly while that site from same owner http://www.filmscoop.it/ has ctr around 1% even if he change color of ads correctly dark colors never succeed however i have seen some preparatory design samples from site-owner for that black-site's future bright color appearance did u ever take the time to go alexa and visit some of the top 10 or so sites in various categories ? may be there is a reason why the really successful sites usually have white back ground or really bright friendly colors ur site as of today is FAR from near optimized for adsense if u really take the time to read all the howto i published - then u may save me and u lots of $ and time
Hi Hans, Thanks I really do appreciate all your help. I am reading through all your guides right now. I have changed the colours to a bright colour, but maybe my site has not updated (i don't know why but changes sometimes take a long time to show up). If it is OK with you, can I PM you in one or two weeks after I have optimised my site? And get more advise from you? I will read your guides in this two weeks and optimise my site. Yes, the content is still coming, the site is only 3 weeks old. I want to get the site optimisation done before I do more content, or do you think I should get more content before I do the optimisation? Thanks I really appreciate all your time!
1. no PM - i'll be away from web most of next 2 weeks anyway 2. if u do all as published then all is as fine as could be 3. i still see same colors if u changed colors or templates correctly, then all should show up instantly - may be something wrong 4. top change al colors and do full optimization should take only an hr or so - once done, then tiime to really push or kick on your crativity to add/create more content finally first point validation of code http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http://www.urbanmonk.net/ and CSS http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http://www.urbanmonk.net/ if both above fully validated then most likely ur pages show instantly and exactly as u configured first all basics - then all rest then success comes as a side effect of correct work automacially
Hey hans, I'm planning out my new look website now. What is the rules for colours of the ads and the background? I want to have a white background for the whole site, what colour do you recommend for the ads and the links inside the ads? thanks bro!
since i am non-stop traveling these coming weeks for a large photo session project pls take the time to read the recommended colors in my blog - its there in full detail see sig link below
Hi Hans, http://blog.mercuryindustry.com.au/ Can you have a look at this? I've placed the ads according to your guides. Are the colours OK? Are they too dark? I don't know what else to change the colours to? (please note that is just a draft, not the real site, and the other pages don't work yet)
u are so far away form recommended colors that i have seriosiu doubts that - you ever read the posts i made - u have any serious intensions in becoming successful - u want to become successful in millions of micro-steps and u totally failed to read my last post " since i am non-stop traveling these coming weeks for a large photo session project" - thats a solid 4gigit us$ amoutn that i invest in these coming weeks in to my web site's progress! that means full day photo sessions half night photo processing leaves zero time for fooling around with micro-steps so PLS really take ur time to really read and see if you ready to make ALL steps to be successful in one single hour at once. i am back for help mid april or later! until then fully focusing on my work you wrote little earlier: "I want to have a white background for the whole site, what colour do you recommend for the ads and the links inside the ads?" thats the point to start in case you dont know what white means its #ffffff ur site looks almost exactly as last time - so lets pls be serious about time and resources consumed
I have had great success above the fold two large rectangles side by side fully blended. THings do change but that has been my highest CTR.
Hi hans, Yes I know the colours are wrong, I am still working on the colours, but I am just trying out the layout first. The colours I am still changing. I was looking for advice on the layout... And I can't find anything more on your blog for colours, just that it has to be bright, is that right? and thanks reapr! --- Hans this is my current colour layout...is that OK? Like I said I'm still doing the colours, so I thought I would show you what I am doing with the colours first.
Hans, know you're away so I put this up here, please let me know what you think, I've changed the colours and the layout. http://www.urbanmonk.net/
