If I wanted to register... Just for the sake of argument googlex.com Would they send their muscle to break my legs? Or lawyers... Has anyone here tried to register a name with "google" in it ?
Well I think that "Google" is a trademark! However there are websites such as: google-secrets.com NOT MINE! e.t.c I am not sure. They might get after you they might not.
HHmmm... I know you can register domains like "googlesucks" and "paypalsucks"... I just wondered what the difference would be... I'll wait for more people to weigh in... I really got a good one in mind
Yep,they can take it from you,but only if they want.I bet that they dont at the moment.I have sonyconsole.com and sonyconsoles.com for 2 years but i didnt heard nothing from sony yet Even if i want to open website on the domains i will open it for selling consoles so that would be good for them.I had only problem with e-bay.cc.They (ebay) told me to just to let it expire. So,can you register the domain:yes, can google take it from you:yes.
As long as you don't do anything that would make it appear as though you're affiliated with Google.com then you should be fine. A big fat disclaimer will help, and so will the topic of your site.
No, haven't tried & won't try. If they found out, the first thing they would do most likely is send you a C&D letter, then take it from there.
There's been so many cases of domainers losing their domain names due to TR issues, so I wouldn't even bother with it. Maybe if the term is generic enough...
Why don't you ask Google as they will be the best people to advise you. All we could do is to guess what will they do.
Now why would you want to mess with Google? The Giver of Pain and Delight. Thank you sir may I have another. Google controls my life...gmail, Adwords, Adsense, Checkout, search engine traffic... and I wouldn't ever consider jeopardizing any of those.
