Which one is more rewarding?

Is it advisable to gather more backlinks (forums,bog, etc. ) or instead just take care of the web site content and make sure search engines index more pages and data?

 

Both is the best choice do both i try olways to do both

 

What is the overall goal?

 

Get the content out there. If its quality your link backs will grow organically. In the end I would recommend producing valuable content.

 

Both are required as I think. Good content and index of all pages as well as good backlinks (not only links from forums and blog it will be better if we opt for some authoritative links).

If you have good centent, people would like to link to you voluntarily.

But otherwise also you can continue to secure good links for your website even when concentrating on overall content of the website.

Both are very important. Fresh content and other on page optimizations are very important to a site. Most SE values sites that always have fresh contents.

Link building campaign is also a very important part of an SEO program. Links pointing to your site are like votes from other site to yours. Thus, having more links pointing to your site is important. But be aware that SE crawlers only like links that are related to the nature of the business of your site. It is better to have ten related links than to have a hundred non related once.

Links are the most important part in getting the site gain its value in the SE’s but it’s the content that the user’s are more concerned and interested in than the links which the site has.

 

Not necessarily true. You may have good content promoting your products, but if you're in a highly competitive field you'll have a hard time getting organic links...
