What do you think of the way I have put adsense up? I have got a few different formats around the site, but my click through rating is insanely small.

its better to use a palin background rather than a textured one or having patterrns so you can blend the background and border of your ads...

blend the links...one color for all is always good...:D

    hope this helps...

If u got this website made by some1, ask for a refund.
    1. Background aint that good, its kinda irritatin
    2. Dont put up the counter, even thats a noob practice
    3. Move ur site map(rename it as Jump or something) to right to the main content box.
    4. Below the jump box on the rite, put ur news update (shouldnt be more than 5-6) half of it changing daily.

Then i would put up adsense below ur left nav links and between jump and news box and keep a banner image on top,
get more content of front page, and then more ads :p

sorry i m asking for lots of changes, but i think after these changes wat u will have to do would be pretty minor

First change your blue link to black, it's way to hard to read the ad.. (readers need to be able to read it and know what it's about before they even consider clicking on it..)

If you are getting traffic, there is so much that can be done to this site to get it monetized..... first it really needs a huge re-design. You can even use some free templates found around the web and just change the images, then you can add a square adsense box wrapped around the text on the main page, or just a 468 on top of the text blended in with a link unit in the navigation.

Hey Auzzzzie, PM me your e-mail. I can send you an e-book on tips to web designing. I think you (your site that is) really need that. Not that I'm a pro at Adsense, my Adsense revenue is also very small (but due to the content, not the design).

    Righto, I've had a shot at a re-design. http://www.ausarmy.110mb.com/milk/index.htm

I haven't changed the main site yet, this is just a prototype. What do you reckon about the ads in here?

    this is way better:
    http://www.ausarmy.110mb.com/milk/index.htm

maby buy a domain name but...the ".110mb.com" on the name looks sooo cheap.

you may loose some traffic to it.

buy a domain and get some cheap hosting, you could probly host it for liek 3 bucks a month and domains are like 7 bucks a year.

Thanks, and yeah I was thinking that about the domain name myself. I'll have a look around for prices.

the new version is very good - the first one looks like made with FP or some web based site creator.
You can find a list of free hosting providers here

Thanks for the links, I'll fix it up soon.

One question, do you reckon that the way I have put an image under the small verticle banner on the right is against TOS? I initially put it there to look good without considering that it being next to adsense may be bad.

Big improvement of your first one. Not a great niche, but very well designed.

    New one is much better.
But in terms of adsense i think you can do more to help you earn.

The drastic size difference in font makes the ads seem more like ads and less like content. In general, you should prob shoot for a font size of 11pt on the web. maybe 10. I think your font is a bit too large.

Try putting your adsense above the main text for a week and track the results. see if that increases your CTR. Also, i think you should put the ads in the sidebar right under "News". The headline "News" really grabs attention. you may get more clickes moving the adsense right under there.
    Good luck

There we go, I've updated the site with the new layout (the test url I posted before won't work now, www.ausarmy.110mb.com for now, until I get the domain). I'll experiment with different adsense layouts and get around to changing the font size soon. Thanks for the advice!

    It's a good start.

I see a picture of an Austeyr 5.56mm assault rifle.

I worked at the place that manufactured them (Lithgow, NSW). Made various parts in production. And ended up in QA signing off on the quality.

It's good to see someone doing a webpage about something they have a deep interest in, not just going for the keyword flavour of the month.
