I have noticed that a lot of people who are successful online market themselves on major forums so heres some pointers on picking a good username. 1 - Make Sure Your Nikname will 'BRAND' you. Lots of the major gurus on the Internet are branding themselves online using names people will remember them for. So make sure at the start pick a username that no one else has taken and give yourself a unique precense on the forum. 2 - If you have a website - put it on your signature link If you are developing a website or have a main blog put it on your singature link, try not to spam the forum. 3 - Pick an Avator people can remember you by. This can help you with your crediblity. 4 - Enhance your reputation by taking part in discussions, giving quality opinions on things and making sure that you immediately stand out from the crowd. 5 - Try not to get involved in arguments with other people. Treat everyone else with respect and they will show you respect. 6 - Help other people as much as possible, offer to give them free advice and actively promote quality discussions. I hope everyone remembers this!
Yep - you would be surprised to see how many people get 'remembered' by their avator. Why not ask someone to create your own 'cartoon' character just to make you stand out.
Very great guide, I second the brandable name, I would use that name everywhere you go on the internet.
This is a good example of helping others out. Green coming your way. Like others I never thought of the avatar. Heck I dont' even know wht my avatar looks like. Will have to put that on my "todo" list!
Thankyou for appreciating the 'power' of branding yourself online. I hope this guide can help everyone when they pursue their business online. Thankyou for the green DUBZ
Good post, marketing on forum is definitely an important marketing tool to possess. I've a friend who does very well hiring people to post on forums for him, he make 5-6 sales each day just by that.
Haha, no I'm not. The type of forum marketing on my sig is different from the forum marketing I just mentioned. Both works though.
Good points made, and often overlooked. I get a lot of solid traffic from forum signature links. As was mentioned above, the key is to not sell like hell in your posts, but rather contribute meaningfully and be a welcome member of the community. If you build a strong reputation, sooner or later people will notice and click on the signature links.
Very nice information for anyone using forum posting to promote their business. I think my nickname brands me quite nicely
Avatar is a good name to brand yourself. If you have the same avatar for a number of years, please easily remember you. Also name is important too. Either way its all about branding yourself.
