    1. Make sure it is commented out, i.e. $INSERT_FILE is not #$INSERT_FILE. Get rid of that pound sign.
    2. Make sure you have the correct link to your header file.

If you have made sure of both these steps, then paste the code of both your nph-proxy.pl and header.php pages in here, and tell me your directory structure. I'll try to help out.

    902 lol.

The INSERT_FILE should work as long as it's uncommented.

Hey guys, great thread so far, I just got through all 46 pages. I wanted to see what you proxy experts thought about the idea of using RSS feeds on the front page of the proxies to generate more relevant ads. I am trying to market to the kids blocked from myspace at school.

I am using a PHP RSS parser to display the top 5 entertainment stories on Digg.com and I am getting ads related to tv shows and movies which sound like they would have a better CTR and higher payout than ads related to proxies. What do you guys think?

Have you put ads on the page yet?

Please let us know what kinds of ads and the value of clicks after you've done it.

I've had the ads on my proxy since the beginning (which was last week) so I never had proxy related ads so I don't really know the difference, but on Monday I had 2028 impressions, 26 clicks and made just over $7.

Of course then I got greedy and totally changed the color scheme of the site and my CTR went to shit. :( But I changed it back so hopefully I should see more clicks now.

You need magpierss which you can get from magpierss.sourceforge.net.

Just read the readme and install file, you are basically just inserting a few lines of code into install.inc.php of PHProxy. Then find a good RSS feed and upload the magpierss files to your server.

you can start googling with "rss parser" as keyword

you'll find further detail, on how to implement it into your website.

    RSS Won't help much.

People may click the news instead of your ads ;)

I hadn't thought about this, but you make a good point. One way to stop this is to display the RSS feed without links. You can have it just display the headline and part of the text without the normal headline link.

i think rss is just away to make your proxy site display another kind of ads, instead just ads about proxy and my space. with it your adsense will show, another kind of ads.

I own about 15 proxy sites. He is right you can make money off of it. I received an email from google adsense and yes they allow it on proxy sites. Yahoo Publisher does not allow it on proxy sites. I have a server and most hosting companies dont' allow proxy sites.
