would be nice if a designer could create some small images with Member of DOO - for members of the organization that want to give something back to the community. we can't force our users to link to us.
Errrm... why? Its for the good of the whole... blah blah ... only want team players blah blah, committed people only.. working together. In all seriousness though, if people aren't willing to even link, they aren't exactly committed are they?
the forum on dirowners.org will be up in an hour or so, we'll talk there and establish rules (i'm not a good writer so someone has to write the community rules). don't hesitate to contact me on Y
I don't agree, Smub. We don't have to wait to follow the lead of a small number of individuals, who may or may not have the time or inclination to do this. I do think this has to be organised as a sort of democratic meritocracy: minimum standards for entry, with members being given the right to vote on how the organisation is run. Without minimum criteria for entry, the organisation will lose its credibility and may become little more than a link exchange or an opportunity to buy advertising. Having a directory for 2 years is a good idea, although it may be a little restrictive. Another criteria would have to be sticking to the code of practice, and displaying the logo somewhere on their directory.
If someone could start some sort of like Articles of Incorporation for a Non-Profit Organization then have it checked by some DP Members here. Policy and Guidelines could follow after that. Someone has to be good on this. Obelia and MJewel are my choices if someone has made an Articles of Incorporation to check the contents. There are more I guess but so far I know just them on those level.
Hooray! The forum is up and running. http://www.dirowners.org feel free to register and post your ideas. there might be some small adjustments to be made but it's enought time for that.
I think it should be on vbulletin instead of SMF as SMF looks crappy otherwise a very good idea Jhrang Saad
maybe someday will afford a vbulletin license. I would like to keep this as free as possible. if a member wants to donate a vbulletin license, that's something else.
Somehow Somewhere we have to start from scratch that's a good idea and when more members come in and funds are allocated then a good forum would be in place. Just placed my membership there Shutzu.
I signed up, and I'll be back in an hour or so with some of my ideas. btw. don't change the board yet, it looks good
Just one advice shutzu signature links should come from the owners themselves as some may get slick and sell their sig links. We can place Mike (Blogmaster) as one of the forum admins as this guy has an extremely round of experience.
You know, I think that name may have been too hastily chosen. I mean, DOO?! The full title is too long to put in a standard-sized small button, but the acronym is just a little unfortunate. Organisation of Directory Owners would have been better... I'm no legal expert.
you should have posted that in that forum. you can't follow anyone to make sure he is the owner of all the links in his sig.. this things change every day... I should hire a man to watch for that anyway.. I'm now thinking if there should be a trades section or not.. but I guess it should
Hello... Thier is such a organization that has 5 letters and its a lot of directories and search engines combined as i was going to a few months back but opted not to... iebfn or somthing, ill look for it tomarrow and contact someone already involved with them and post link asap. thx malcolm
I think you shouldn't have that sort of stuff atm, simply because you need to firmly establish that we are a organization, not just some webmaster forum. We need rock hard respect first and that will come from a serious, non commercial attitude, and ideas that noone else uses.
Surely not. If were talking about non profit and discussion of plain advancement this is not a wise move besides your rushing things too much. Don't get overexcited. On a slow phase of discussion improvements advance.
