I am trying to figure out my best option for making a specific blog post fixed on the homepage using wordpress. Is it just a matter of editing the timestamp forward or is there some better way?

    Cheers

Yep, I prefer the sticky plugin myself.

With WP 2.0 you can actually have a static page on your blog, which links though to your blog posts.

Great plug-in, that's exactly what I was looking for - I don't like the way it's implemented in WP... Using sticky posts seems more useful.
