Sponsorship of forums? What would you pay? Think its fine to have?

I'm currently working on a new General forum. And I was wondering if I could sponsor each individual forum? Like for example: http://www.namepros.com/registerindex.php that blue box that has a sponser and says "Forum Sponsor"

What would you pay to have that on a forum? Like

    Search Engines
-Google <- That would be 1 forum
-Yahoo <-That would be a forum
sub-YPN <-That would also be a seperate sponsor!

How much would you pay? does $5 a week sound reasonable for a BRAND NEW site? Or should I do $5 every 2 weeks? Or something like that?

ALSO: Do you think this is fine? I'm sure my users won't mind considering what type of site it is....

    WHAT DO YOU THINK????

I think it is alright to charge for sponsors, but until you get a lot of traffic and you get some page rank. People won't be willing to pay much to sponsor. Personally, I'm super tight with my money so I would probably only pay $3-$4 a month until you got some nice traffic/page rank.

This is just my opinion. :)

I'm expecting LOTS of traffic really fast because of the nature of the site. I know your thinking... " LOL you can't get lots of traffic fast it takes time! "

Well I'm expecting to get 1xx uniques/day after a week... maybe HIGH xx/day after a week...

PR of course would be 0

$1-5 per month until traffic, posts, and pagerank are heavily increased.

You know, something you could do is have someone sponsor a section of your site for 1-2 months give them a sweet deal that they can't refuse like $1-$3 a month or free but let them know how much you intend to charge after the 1-2 month period. After the 1-2 months, up the charge. If the sponsor is satisfied with the traffic they are getting, they will be willing to pay what ever you up the charge to.

I say this because I have a website that has contacted me the last few years. They tell me I can get huge traffic if I get into their very niche directory that caters to a sector that I sell products to. I'm not willing to do it because it would cost me $300 a year. I told them, if you really think I would do well in your directory put me in there for a month for free. If I'm satisfied with the traffic then I will pay to stay in, but if not you can take my link out of the directory. They were unwilling to do it, so I told them it's no deal. Some people just need to see that what you are offering is worth it. Then they will be willing to pay. You know what I'm saying? :)

Noones really gonna be too interested until theres traffic. Alot of people start projects then give up immediatly.
