Just got a website/domain with www.ipowerweb.com. I am totally new to this whole thing but have done database programming for work and stuff like that. Anyway I got dreamweaver 8 (my god how to use this thing)and a few ftp programs but the real question is this. Lets say I make a nice basic business index_html with a few pages to suit the company(my brothers plumbing Co) then in the corner I put a forums tab.....I and he would like to run a forum style site as well that has members chat box and question that can be asked and answered by his staff. I do not want it to be what is first seen when entering the domain I dont think. I think it would be better to hit business side and then goto forums if you like.

The addy is www.horizonplumbinginc.com and it is just a template offerd of the site. I do have others but am struggling with the whole working on the file then update to the websie or vise versa. So can I do that and which one is best as far as idiot user proof E107 or phpnuke. Mind you I know just enough to mess it up real bad!!. Last can anyone tell me how I can go about wiping everything out completely then starting fresh with a new template of dreamweaver.

The best thing is maybe use e107 for the entire site if I can make certain pages look more business than forum. Lots of people will be local looking for a new home plumber. so flashy and informative. Then the forums would hopefully get more national and just general plumbing and construction based banter. chat box who is online that kind of stuff Hope all this is clear and I posted in the right spot.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

Well as you want a business orintated website, I first suggest having a button link or something to the forum, the formu should be located at site.com/forum, or on a sub domain, in regards to forum script, I reccommend V bulliten, however if you cannot afford it, phpbb is a free forum software.

I have some free dreamweaver tutorials and HTML tutorials at my site http://www.resource-website.com

check them out. I guarantee you can get going within like 2 or 3 days if you take the time to study them.

Dreamweaver is a good choice - the best tool.

If you build some knowledge of HTML, that will help too.

    Enjoy!

Well I took your advise in the part of domain/forums I did however use e107 because it is free and the styles/themes available. However I have just a couple of questions and problems. One is with e107 I cannot figure out where the main header page is so I can get verified with google by installing the meta tag. I did it for the main site in like to minutes but the forums theme and index.php is like a bunch of redirects UGH... So I am also missing a couple of core files somehow and that is giving me issues to. I cant figure out how to properly change the script to reset core.php or can I just upload new cores from the main folder that I installed from

Here is the site www.horizonplumbinginc.com of course just click on the forums link to see the e107 setup
