1 = 2 Proof Let a = b, a,b>0 a^2 - a^2 = b^2 - b^2 a^2 - b^2 = ab - b^2 (a+b)(a-b) = b(a-b) Divide both sides by (a-b), a+b = b Since a=b, then b+b = b 2b=b 2 = 1 *** Can anyone find the flaw? And an added challenge, who can prove 1 + 1 = 2? I haven't done it myself, but I hear its hard.
(a+b)(a-b) = b(a-b) is flaw.. wait.. im stupid they're still both 0... The flaw i guess is that after you get to (a+b)(a-b) = b(a-b) your looking at 0 on both sides so everything after that just breaks down to 0=0. 2*0=0 is correct however 2 zeros is still not 2..
Easy ... We have made it clear in the first part itself that a = b .... therefore, a - b = 0 So in the above equation when you divide both sides by a-b, you are actually dividing both sides by 0, which is not possible! Hence, the above equation is wrong Just a modified part .... a^2 - a^2 = b^2 - b^2 a^2 - b^2 = ab - b^2 (a+b)(a-b) = b(a-b) Divide both sides by (a-b), but a-b = 0 Therefor the equation is not possible!
Why is it impossible to divide a number by zero? I thought that a number divided by zero equals zero.
Well zero divided by one can be 0 .... but anything divided by 0 cannot be 0 .... Let me explain .... 0/1 = 0 ... so taking the one on the other side means ... 0 = 0 x 1 hence, 0 = 0 .... we got it... Now let's take the other way round ..... 1/0 = 0 ... let's take the 0 on the other side .... 1 = 0 x 0 ... Do you think the above equation is right ? ... Not me I guess There is no number which would fit both situations. So there is no answer. So we call it an "undefined" equation because we have no answer for it. Hope I cleared it!
lol. yay, ding ding ding. Yes, it is undefined when dividing by zero, thus the proof is wrong. It's apparently much harder than that, haha. I just googled it and got this: http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/view/51551.html EDIT: After searching some more, I found this: http://www.idt.mdh.se/~icc/1+1=2.htm LOL!! Totally...lost.
proof that 1+1 = 2 is easy left one finger !,,, <<< like this now lift one other finger !!,, <<<< like this now count them XD you should get 2
LOL What are you doing here? you should be in the kinder garden class. BTW Do you know the new theory of nullity 0/0 ? divided by zero ! You can have a look in the thread running in this forum... http://www.eukhost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1068&highlight=invention
It's been explained That's mind boogling ( lol), I think you tried explaining that to me before and I lost you 1/4 way E does not equal MC squared either! The things you learn in university..
