Suppose I just finished writing an ebook. What would be the best way to go about promoting it? Forums? PPC advertising? Link exchanges for a landing page?
If your looking for instant sales, I'd start with adwords or posting on forums with a sig link. Build a targeted list of a landing page for a more long term success. JR

PPC is a great way to drive traffic to your site, if your website ad copy is good and you can drive good traffic to your site you can do very well.
Like said above clickbank can allow you to easily sell your product through affiliates. I think ppc is the way to go. Just need to tweak it until the cost per conversion is acceptable. Also if you have an ebook about widgets, send a free copy to an expert on widgets with a blog. Maybe they'll give you a testimonial or blog about it.
If you were to start an e-book its always first to 'BETA' Test it on this forum. What you can do is offer a 'DIGITAL POINT SPECIAL OFFER' at a fraction of the price. That way you can have a good chance of putting the product in front of the consumer before you launch it and if you have any things you want to edit from feedback you can feel free. This would help you. You might want to use Aweber.com to capture your customer's email address so that you can 'sell' to them later on. This really is a great way to make more money. Most of the TOP gurus are making money by sending out just 1 E-mail to their entire list. Easy money for them. Imagine if you had a list of over 1000 of people and promoted a e-book for $7? Thats $7000 in your bank if they ALL buy it! Hope you pursue your dreams and do not be afraid to take action, my friend.
If you want to go for a big launch, offer a top-notch affiliate program so you'll get a ton of people promoting it for you. Working with the guys who've got lists of 10K or more is hard, but working with 10 guys who've got 1K or more is a whole lot easier. Use forums to run offers to get in touch with likely promotion and affiliate partners, and to get some testimonials and test the market demand, then go for it
TESTIMONIALS - Have an impartial and reputable third party evaluate and endorse it. A private accounting firm would be a good idea. If another party staked their reputation on the book, I would buy in a second. If it's the book in your signature, I would be pleasantly suprised if you could accomplish that.
Is this a re-sell ebook? I mean if one can buy and then sell it. I even have a special area for your book marketing on my forum. Come post, put your links, ads. (the blue link below) I would think google adwords is the best. Moreover is the website that you are going to market your pdf on similar to the e-book you are selling? I mean the keywords that you used. I know that they should match (that's just a quick SEO help).
Affiliate program. It's insane how much money is in that. No question about it...if your serious about making bank of your ebook, you need to look into an affilate program. Like they mentioned above, clickbank is a great place to start.
As Tenfourstudios said.... A affiliate program built into anything you do online is a good idea. Isnstead of 1 salesperson for your project your could have 1000 or even more. Thats how the guru's get so big, having others sale their materials as well as themselves. Hope this helps JR
This is what I would do. 1. Get a membership to an Autoresponder. 2. Develop quite a long autoresponder sequence pitching your book and eventually other niche products. 3. Use the various ppc engines to send traffic to your squeeze page. Offer a free exceprt of your ebook or similiar info you have rights to as a bonus. 4. Once you see that your book is converting. Create a good sales page. It's amazing how many great info products are let down by so-so and outright horrible sales pages. Affiliates are great, but they NEED a sales page that converts. So spend time on the sales page... test, test, and test some more. Then get affiliates. A blog works great as a traffic funnel, too. Cheers Angela
