Mine varies widely. Some days it could be viral marketing and then other days it could be social networks and then other days it could be something totally different.
At the moment, the best performing source of traffic I've got at the moment is my google widget which is at: http://www.google.com/ig/directory?hl=en&root=%2Fig& dpos=top&num=24&url=http://www.apnretail.co.uk/apnre tailsearch.xml&q=apnretail&start=0. I used to get quite a lot of traffic from google search results but that seems to have dried up of late. Phil
I would say that currently around 50% of my total volume is coming from my Google gadget. The main page for gadgets is at http://www.google.com/ig/directory?synd=open and the guide to developing a gadget is at http://www.google.com/apis/gadgets/index.html Basically, if you are familiar with HTML then creating a basic gadget is pretty straightforward. Cheers Phil
I am fluent in HTML and nearly fluent in PHP. So developing something shouldn't be to hard I guess. This is something that I will definately look further into.
Social bookmarking (Digg) gives you very short-term traffic stream. High PR inbound one way links are best IMHO for better SE positioning. Unique and attractive content also makes visitors come back again and spread your site. just my 2c Good luck everyone
I chose the social networking sites. Stumbleupon and Tribe.net is good to me. Craigslist.org is another winner for getting picked up fast by the SE's and generating a good deal of traffic.
Hello Phil, You should try also Netvibes module : http://eco.netvibes.com/. It is similar to google gadget and should bring you traffic too.
A lot of my raw traffic comes from forum posting. Also from articles that I submit to article directories.
To let visitors bring traffic from social sites, buttonr.com propose a nice button : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=264899
