Hi friends, I own a website http://www.yourphotoshopguide.com My site is getting around 3000+ visitors daily. The problem is CTR which is very low (below 1%). Is there any way to improve it or it is common in photoshop tutorials related website? Any help to increase CTR will be highly appreciated. Tanmay
The normal CTR is bellow 1%. If you get more (clicks) Google will start look at your site to see why is so big Regards
yup..most websters are not clicking..nice site though..i think your adsenses are well implement with the site but check this one. You need to fix that fast.
I'll click on whatever interests me - thats what they are there for. If the advertiser didn't want you to look at their site they wouldn't have paid for the ad.
yeah man it is your niche. It would be maybe better to promote affiliate products than putting adsense.
i fully disagree with the number 1 being normal CTR that would be an extreme waste of resources if CTR woudl be that low an average surely is in the range of 5% I was myself in that range for about a full year before I adsense optimized my site to get into a 2-digit ctr on a daily average basis a fully adsense optimized site may have a CTR sitewide in the 2-digit range with a mixture of different topics there are a few OTHER important factors that are contributing to interesting and valuable ads - such as old site, large site with large traffic and detailed precise custom channels being targetable for advertisers as well as all the normal factors such as exact page-color scheme and adsense colorscheme as well as ad-formats selected and ad placements. there are other very detailed threads covering exactly that topic - you may want to search the forum and read n detail. here a few points re your site you use NONE of the 3 successful formats - see google pages you use your ads top left - i would recommend an ATF 336x280 top-center and NO ad low left leave ONE up - fully optimized adsense unit in color and placement and wait until eCPM is above 10us$ before adding another unit on same page also keep in mind your traffic - is EXTREMELY low - create content and all success comes as a byproduct of your efforts. the less you think about $ and the more you produce quality content incl full SEO - the sooner your success will overrun you like an avalanche. if you worry too much about $ in such early stage of a web site you may easily forget to produce more quality content and waste valuable time needed to create and produce what attracts more people ... purely photo related might be hard to get into 2 digits ctr - my own photo gallery usually is in the range of a little less than 2-third of that - but it finally depends on what exact software you use to publish your photos and what title you give to each photo i use gallery2 for my photo gallery of the Philippine islands and that results in absolutely best SEO/SEF for each single photo - leaving all the success or failure in my hands depending on title and description and comments I add to each photo you may also consider changing your font-size from a px size to pt size on my widescreen laptop your fonts are tiny - and thus tiring to read - too tiring to read to feel comfortable on a page unless I click Ctrl++ to artificially increase font-size
I think CTR largely depends on the page, the type of user, etc. I have a page with a CTR of 20% sustained over months. I have another site where the CTR is terrible - about 0.2%. A few others in between. I noticed a pattern that the pages that are mostly search engine traffic have a high CTR, while the ones with mostly return visitors do not. Also I think the number of uniques/page views per unique is a factor.
Huh? Google isn't going to bat an eye at a CTR of 2% or 3% unless it's associated with fraudulent clicks or some other issue. My CTR is certainly about 1% and has been ever since I started way back whenever that was...almost two years ago.
your placement looks good but why dont you use the right side of your site ? if i were you , i add an adsense code to that side . all of your adsense codes are on the left side
try to move your adlinks to above the category and move the large rectangular links to top of the main tutorial, that will help.
I dont think photoshop site can be considered as webmaster site. My advice will be to use Border in adsense ads. Use both borderless and border ads and track the channel to see the results. I think you are using too much blending, try to change the color of the ads. Also put a leaderboard if possible as well as button in between content. You can use 3 ad units, so why not use all 3.
The reasons not to use all three are: One add unit means if you get a click it will be of greater value since only the higher bidding adds will be shown. Add bloated pages are not linked to or approved by directories as often because they look spammy, which is also why your readers are less likely to return or bookmark you. You might get more clicks with more adds, but if those clicks are not productive for advertisers then you will wear the wrath of the smart pricing gods.
Interesting thread. I was wondering if anyone knows of statistics related to CTR in various subjects? Are there any general numbers that are considered average for certain subjects. I understand that ad placement is a big factor but how do optimized sites perform?
