I am compiling a list of all the areas of creating a popular content based website.

For arguements sake lets presume it is a blog.

I literally want to gather EVERY task required from buying the domain to adding RSS feeds, from setting up the categories to doing content deals, using text link ads, adding viral content, submitting to dmoz, the meta structure, keyword research.

I would really love the help of the experts here at DP, and when I have compiled the full list I will release it on here.

    Thanks

Well I know a bit about blogs :)

For a blog to be popular you need, (must!), update it everyday.
You must include some personal info about yourself, (readers know when you are just trying to sell them something). They want personal details.

You must participate on 10, 20 other blogs, add comments, link to them and so on. In the long run they will return the favor.

    Be patient.

Almost every blog, (host or software), will do that for you.
As for the name, I don't think it matters that much, most reader link to a as opposed to typing the name in.

For a blog I am not sure that submitting will help that much, it might help your rankings.
Join every forum in your niche, if your blog is about dogs, then join every do forum under the sun and add a post or two every single day.

Quality content always helps! Don't be spammy either.
