    maybe its just me but that wasn't interesting to read.

    it lost me at the first sentence

    Page Rank is a topic much discussed by Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) experts.

    No half decent SEO expert spends any length of time discussing pagerank. to quote my friend the gypsy over at http://www.huomah.com. High toolbar pagerank is simply one of the by products of a good linking campaign

    As of now I don't bother myself thinking about PR. All I want is targeted traffic on my site and get higher ranking on our targeted keywords. I get more backlinks to get traffic on my site, and I think this can also help me increase my PR on next google update.

    Although PR does help when it comes to site indexing, and it can help avoiding supplimental results. It doesn't help directly with rankings.

    It shouldn't be ignored, but it's not worth obsessing over.

    Ok, there is a distinct difference between PageRank and ToolBar PageRank. TBPR is the one webmasters/marketers obsess over and it is a shadow of the actual PageRank...

    Understanding PR calculations and how it works is fine.

    We simply don't use it as a major metric because;

    1. It is a simplified number missing the many iterations between say a PR4 and a PR 5

    2. It is exported infrequently (3-4 months) and as such losing value significantly.

    3. It is merely ONE of many ranking factors these days and it's depreciated status means high PR and high SERPs are not always synonomous.

    So understanding PR is fine, simply don't over-valuate it.

    While I have heard that PR isn't a great metric, in your opinion what are some of the better metrics out there? e.g. Alexa, keyword rankings on google search, etc.
