Please share your experiences with registrars with me. I'm putting together a list for part of my new site that helps users pick the right registrar for their needs.

I use namecheap.com and I've had good experiences. I tried registering a few names at domainsite.com and they flagged it as fraud and released the links, then one of the names got registered by someone else before I could reregister. Obviously I'm a little annoyed at domainsite.

choose namecheap or netfirms, registerfly is sinking and i don't like godaddy because the "brilliant" staff suspended me for fraud bc/ i bought domains with same paypal account on 2 godaddy accounts.

Popular/good registrars: GoDaddy, Namecheap, Moniker, Enom, Dotster/MyDomain

    Bad reputation: Registerfly

I've used Godaddy & Mydomain & have had good experiences myself.

Moniker apparently has the best reputation for never droping a domain so your domains are secure there.

I have had no problem with Godaddy. They usually have a bunch of coupon codes floating around that bring the price down which is always good.

I have also heard good things about Moniker but I have never used them.

I use namecheap and had a good experience with them up to now.. been doing around 2 weeks am trying to transfer a domain and they seem stuck. Support is not responding to any of my emails.. wonder what is happening.. Anyhow beside this I have namecheap on top of the list.

Use godaddy when I have no choice but hate them. Too complicated and way too much "buy this and buy that" oriented.

I would vote for GoDaddy and ENOM.

Have been with them from many years and never had any problems.

Verisign is the best. I have several domains there. Downside they are a little pricey compared to others (around AU$19 per .com). On the otherhand Registerfly has to be the worst registrar ever.

It is the cheapest to register .tv that I've found, but you must make sure you go to Enom.tv, not the .com

Namecheap rocks, I like their simple checkout ( Incontrast to Godaddy - keep on giving offers and offers - frustrating )

I've been using Dynadot for nearly 2 years now and I love their service.

Since they've introduced bulk pricing .com's are only $6.99. Problem is you have to spend $500 there first.

Yes exactly. This is what I freaking hate from Godaddy. Look.. if we want to buy something else then we will do. Are they so hungry they have to sell us everything they have??

godaddy is fine. Enom is excellent if you have a good reseller account (mine is 6.95) Nowadays, about the best new account you are going to get is an 8.95, unless you put up a hefty deposit. namecheap and me have had some difficulties, although admittedly rare... wasn't happy with support and problems didn't get resolved however. Netfirms is kind of a nightmare... ipower has gotten considerably better but is still something of a pass for me... Directi (resellerclub.com) is pretty doggone sweet; kind of like enom used to be... globat is the worst I've ever tried to use. Dotster is sometimes problematic, but use the corvette code and grab yourself a domain for a dollar... wouldn't use it much past that, lol.

Microsoft Live is giving away a domain and free membership to try them out.
Yahoo has 1.99 for the first domain for new customers.
    Hostway.Com 3.95 limit 3
    netfirms.com 4.95 limit 5
    1an1.com 6.99 no limit
HostMySite.Com has a promotionat at 2.95, not sure on how this will work out yet.

Okay, I know the last part isn't really an answer to your question, but if you're anything like me, you like to grab a few ultra cheap domains from time to time.

Speaking of which, resellerclub has .info domains for resellers at .68 right now. I snag up cheapies like this and shoot articles to them with links back to primary pages...
