try the swftools an open source flash toolkit, it is pretty good. it got lots of nice stuff to handle the things you are expecting

just google it, I believe the website is http://www.swftools.org/

If you can wait for couple of months, I might be able to provide a free flash editor and which would also provide the tools to get flash file and export as gif. I already developed a full featured gif editor. I am working on flash editor at this moment.

    Hey, aszo,[IMG]

When converting from flash to gif, I normally use my favourite piece of soft - SWF2AVI (don't mind the name, though ;)). Up to now I don't have any complaints as regards speed of conversion, quality of the output, etc.

To add, I've used some other alternatives but the result was more than unsatisfactory.

More info on SWF2AVI you can get here.

All the best to you :)

I do it in the same manner. I'm wondering why to go the long way, when Flash offers this function implemented in itself?

    I see now.:)

In this case, you can go straight to a free and amazing piece of soft that converts SwishMx files into animated gifs. You can download it here.

It's called Magic Swf2Gif 1.10, is absolutely free and is only 1.36 mb. ;)

    If so, it is understandable.

But if not - I just didn't see the point.

I think if you can create Flash (assuming that you did), you can readily convert it into GIF coz the tools are in the same software! I usually use Swishmax to create flash banners, there are buttons that let you convert to AVI, GIF, etc.

Uhhh... did I get it mixed up again??? Heehhehe :D let me check that out again (although I'm VERY sure that I did the conversion in Swishmax. If it's not a button then it's probably an export command)

My baaaaddddd... Sorry Aszo, wrong information. You DO have to use 3rd party software for converting that to gif. (although I'm still not satisfied with this, I'm quite sure I did the converting in Swishmax. But let's just drop this) I think you've found the FREE software you're looking for right?
