Are people cheating with a redirect to avoid comission fees?

    In clickbank, I notice that the hop link gets redirected to a different domain. Can clickbank still track redirects? Say a merchant signs with clickbank and puts up www.website1.com (example) and afilliates are creating hoplinks with their user ID and linking to www.website1.com. The merchant "promises" a good comission but then you notice an automatic redirect and you are now at www.website2.com. Clickbank would assume its a different website and may not give you the comission. The merchant has just cheated you! I notice several merchants using redirects. Has anyone else? How do I know if a merchant is trying to cheat using redirects, cloaking or links in his website that takes the user to a different website to avoid comission?

    I don't know what you mean, but if you want to be sure at 100%, just click on the buy buton with your own affiliate link.

    If your affiliate ID is apearing at the bottom of the page, you should be ok.

    Let us know how you are doing.

    Go to order the product and look for this at the bottom of page([affiliate =XXXXXXXXXX)......if this is yours, you are ok.

    [affiliate = aceman1234.TRACK9]

    That is what I got with your link.

    Hi Need_incomes,

    nothing is up. when you redirect, your hoplink will not obligatory show up, and for your question why people redirect, read this article (I wrote it last month)

    Now I understand! Should I in fact avoid clickbank sponsoring any website that isnt cloaked for the reasons? Is it true a cloaked website will still give me my comission even if someone deletes my hoplink in the URL?

    Need_Incomes,

    I wouldn't worry too much either way if you're simply worrying about if you'll get paid. Clickbank says that the only way to get paid for a purchase is to use the standard (affID).(merchID).hop.clickbank.net format to send a link to. Once this browser direct is sent, you shouldn't worry about getting your commission from a sale of that product, unless as posted above the affiliate=NONE shows up.

    I tried your link and it works just fine for me. As far as deleting the hoplink in the url, it won't matter - I could use joeschmoe.publisher.hop.clickbank.net, and get taken to www.publisher.com/?hop=joeschmoe, then delete the affiliate part so it just looked like www.publisher.com, make a purchase, and (assuming I don't have clickbank cookies blocked) joeschmoe will get credit for the sale. This is also why Clickbank says you can't just send visitors to that URL form - it won't set the cookie necessary to direct purchase information.

    Hope this helps.

    -T
