Yeah, Good way for promoting is that what you are doing now: posting stupid questions like this one on forums. I wish to see one good and popular dir forum with active administrator to remove tons of stupid repeated thousand times posts written just only to show HERE I AM!
For generating Direct Traffic-and revenue- forums are the best place to advertise and make it visible to prospective clients.

I've found the best way is to get lots of back links the higher the PR the better but some are better than none and still help out. Everything in life and business DEPENDS. It depends on which country you hire to do your outsourcing, which directories / people you choose to invest time and money with, how much time you spent looking for the best deal, how much time you spend IMPLEMENTING promotions, how many other high ranking PR sites you control on different IP's, alot of other things and most importantly who you MEET. For a website to be effective it must be networked. Same for a business and individual. You can't do everything and if you try and be the jack of all trades you might become one but you'll get hired for none! Meet other like minded individuals and put a different spin on the regular and you'll have a chance if you try and mimic something that is established especially in directories you'll never rise above the rest. I don't believe in making a budget and trying to spend it all; that's what goverments do and well no more needs to be said. "A fool and his money shall soon part." Have a slush fund of readily available funds and when something comes along do it! That being said you should always be promoting try and work ON your site as much as possible and IN as little as possible. I have only promoted in these forums so far. I haven't really found any others that have such a wealth of talented and motivated inviduals who are actively building their websites. I posted an add in the Solicitations last night and the response has been awesome! If there are other communities like this I'd love to hear them about them as well. That being said you can't discount the value of this resource it's quite incredible.
