Normally this type of sales is for orphan pages with PR 0, just stay away.

I have my doubts about the value of any edu link with a tilde in the path, such as student pages. If it's located on the main site, then I may have an interest, but the pricing would depend on the site.

I don't understand -- are you paying that to list one edu link in your directory?
Well, I'll treat that as normal link like all others. If some-one wants-he/she can populate the directory just by manually adding them.:)

Would you like to pay for a .gov link ? Lets say a $1000 a year ? I don't have any idea too but would like some opinions.

Yeah i'd have to agree - i've had offers from EDU sites, homepage link for $150-300/month, but then you see others selling $1-2 a link? Why? Because it's spam!

Id pay as much for as .edu as i would for a .gov - $0!!!!

They are totally pointless and they have been proven not to help increase your PR any more so than a standard link from a standard .com or other .tld.

Improvements in traffic however are debatable.

Have you eaten Baloneys lately or simply Overjoyed? :D

Cuz one link in the Front Page of this Big Gorilla would probably sent you flying at an altitude you would never imagine.

Presently there are 61,000 Smaller Gorillas not including the Chimps linking to that site and 47,000 indexed pages. Even a DMOZ listing could never match that.

Now please tell if that is not worth a link.

What would it say about the state of the US economy if the Whitehouse did start selling text links?

There's nothing inherently valuable about an .edu link, some of them just tend to be well linked to. The minute search engines start to rank pages in favour of .edu and .gov is the minute a whole new breed of spam is born. A lot of .edu links, particularly student pages, tend to be quite short-lived anyway.

The question is that it will not help PR any more so than a standard link from a standard .com or other .tld. :)

And sabian there is a GOV department in my country looking for sponsors. Just not like to argue with anybody else as my country is not as rich as some of you here. Proceeds go to building schools and giving good education for the children.
