Let see, I have done this 3 times and it isn't that hard....let me try to remember....

1st. Goto your PHP MY ADMIN and make a back up of your database.Copy and paste in a notepad and save it as database.sql

2nd. Make a copy of all of your files in your current Directory folder and save it on your hard drive.

3rd. Now delete all of whats inside of your Directory this includes, files and folders etc...clean it out just as if it was new.

4th. Upload the 3.1 (follow the READ ME instructions) into that directory and run the installer. Follow what the installer says and add your Database name, password etc,..(this is the same database name as with the 2.1)

5th. If the installer ask you to give permission to a certain folders, then give it (777)

Basically, even if you deleted all the folders and files in your directory, you should be ok as long as you have the back up copy of those files (modified image, logo, tpl, php etc..) It is the Database that we cannot mess-up with.

After the installer is finish it should be 3.1 and just login and familiar yourself with the new admin interface as it takes a little of getting use too.

Disclaimer: I pass kindergarden twice, so take note of that;)

Remember it will not work if you have a really big database like i did with over 5 mb. So better do the upgrade on your own machine.

You can do it sizzler_chetan just don't mess up the database. As I said before, the files in your Directories can be deleted and put back on and still wont have no affect, I know because the first time I upgraded I just kind held my guts and went with it and was a success.

But each time I do it I still take precautions on everything.

You could always just pay the $10 to access the phpLD 3.x section of the forum, there you'll find detailed information on how to do it... plus if you go wrong you can get support...
