I'm not suggesting anything other than BBC needs to give a better explanation regarding the source of the wire and why they continued to report the collapse of WTC7 for 20 minutes without verification.

Under the circumstances, there was a good chance any building in the complex or surrounding area would have been destroyed, catch on fire or collapse. Were buildings 4, 5 & 6 WTC mistakingly reported to have collapsed? If so, and news agencies were just throwing false reports around the whole morning, then fine, I'll just chalk the BBC/WTC 7 report as another mistake and not even question it. The fact that it was a confusing time for anyone involved has nothing to do with a broadcasting company spreading false information (at the time) of a very significant event.

I'm not suggesting that the BBC is part of a conspiracy, I just want to hear a reasonable explanation as to how this can happen to a credible broadcasting company. Saying that it was simply a mistake just doesn't cut it.

I wouldn't even think twice about this if it was FOX news that reported it.

How/why do you think it happened?

Well, we have to wait and see, BBC have lost their own tapes, so they're not able to give a good answer yet. Perhaps, we will see a good answer later.

However, one thing that I wonder about is.. wasn't it summer time in NY at that moment(EDT instead of EST)?

Edit: it seems that BBC have bringed us further details about this already.

thanks for posting the link. I don't think Richard Porter has really clarified anything though. The BBC probably just jumped the gun on CNN's 4:15edt report that building 7 has "either collapsed or is collapsing". Regardless, it's shoddy journalism.

I guess we'll just have to keep an eye on Porters blog because judging from the comments, people still want a better explanation.
