Sometimes in (CSS) designing there are browser compatibility problems in cases like centering layout, fading,...
Though we are supposed to make our websites compatible with all browsers, Its impossible test it in all browsers.
I always test my designs in IE and Firefox.
But the problem is that stuffs that works in IE7(which I use) doesn't work in IE6.
So My question is "Are there that much number of IE6 users which makes it still a browser to be considered while designing" Or that there are more IE6 users than IE7?
Pliz give your opinions which browsers should be tested while designing..

Just checking one of my sites, IE6 users account for 40% of the traffic and IE7 20%, so yes we have to support IE6 for some time yet.

I still see IE5 users but as they are less than .5% we don't bother trying to make the sites work in IE5 any more, the line has to be drawn somewhere.
The 4 you have in your poll along with Safari and a text browser.

Bad I can't check my work in Mac based browsers like Safari, otherwise I'd be there, too. As long as there are differences that visitors might see when browsing our sites, we have to make sure they are fixed and worked around..

I always use firefox when browsing.. it's the best IMO.
When I test my designs I only test them in IE7 and Firefox.. I just can't be bothered trying in IE6.. haven't made any bigger sites yet so I guess it doesn't matter that much

I use FF and IE to test my browsers (only the popular browsers [IMG]). But of course I check my statistics as well to determine which ones are used more popularily in my sites.

    I test in:
    IE6
    IE7
    Firefox 2
    Opera 9
Safari 3 (you can get it for windows here)

All my designs are eventually compatible with all of them.

IE6 has the largest user base, followed by IE7 and then Firefox.

For standards support, Safari is the most standards compliant browser - it is horrifically slow on Windows (with 512MB of RAM). For me it is the sloest browser out of all - with Opera being the fastest, followed by IE7. Opera is the second most compliant browser. Safari and Opera are the only browsers which currently pass the Acid2 test.

Yes, you can run IE5,6 and 7 on the same machine - there are standalone versions out there.

I personally use Opera beause of speed, compliance and the Ctrl+Alt+V function, as well as custom searches and toolbars.

    Thats just the facts.

As web designer I use Ffox for debugging and IE and OPERA for verification.

BUT the IE the most powerful browser (a lot of powerfull features not included in HTML standard).
    FFOX very convenient for debugging

    Opera for melancholics.

But even on OPERA one can find amaizing features:
for example I want to add button to browser. It program contains 10 line of javascript code.
IE recognizes it as ActiveX (!!!) and requests sertificate verification (500 bucks/yr) for button install, while in
OPERA you can simply DRAG THE BUTTON FROM THE PAGE TO TOOLBAR.
I did not beleive to my eyes!!

I prefer FF however IE6, IE7 and FF are in order of the most popular browsers and so we test them all plus will also test other browsers depending on the clients needs
