Looks like an attempt to get a viral blog going rather than a real blog. I think the author needs to work on their writing style somewhat to make it more believable.
It wont even do that good the posts are long and drawn out and I dont even feel like reading a sentance of them.

Yeah, it's definately a stunt to get some bucks. But, it is a rather interesting blog and story...definately worth a check out. The only thing that identifies that this blog isn't legit, well the story at least, is the registration date of the domain: September 2006. The story clearly states the guy didn't have any problems until November/December 2006, so clearly, the story's a spook. I do hope that blog becomes successful though. It's such a unique technique, I think, and the story is unique and rather long - definately worth giving the guy credit. Kudos to that guy.
It is a unique idea, but imagine if this became a trend and people started just making up crazy stories and blogged about it for some money and fame lol, wouldn't be as entertaining anymore
He plans to sell merchandise... lol If I have the mafia behind my ass, I wont have the luxury to design a good looking site and sell stuff on it. I will probably be busy in hiding myself somewhere.

Creation date: 22 Sep 2006 Pretty good domain, must have expired. Nice blog, but not sure what to think about the story. But hey ... it could be true.
