Why is this happening? When I do site:http://www.sefanatics.com search in Google I got only 1310 pages. Few weeks ago it was more that 2200 then it dropped some where 1500 and now it's only 1310. What could be the problem? My site: http://www.sefanatics.com Thanks
You've either been penalized or are being investigated manually with consideration of being banned. You must have done something to trip an alarm. Sorry Dude. Try wait, try wait! I'm joking! Don't sweat it. Like Google's link: operator the site: operator is notorious for inaccurate results. The only difference, I think, is that Google has not come out and publicly stated that they broke it on purpose as they said about the link: operator. You may want to check for canonical issues and review your robots.txt, but if your rankings are not dropping I would not worry. Do you have a Google Webmaster Tools account? If not get one. Also, monitor and track your server log files. You can usually assume that if a GoogleBot visits one of your web pages then it will get indexed. Three days to a week later you should be able to do a cache: operator on that page. If you do discover that entire sections of your web site are not being visited or cached by Google then you may have a markup or coding error that is stopping the crawls or you may need to point more links to your deep content. Of course now that I wrote all of that good stuff above I finally looked at your website and I see that you have huge duplicate content issues. Nearly all of your text is taken from other websites with more authority than your own. So yes, you may have tripped a wire after all.
Same here. 3 weeks ago suddenly I was ranking #1 and #2 for my most important keywords. It took only 1 week and they felt both to #5... Also with the site: command I don't see pages indexed anymore that always were indexed and have pr5. But when I do a search in google for the keywords of a 'lost' page, those pages appear high in the serps. I guess they are testing something and everything will be okay again soon (I hope).
having the same problem with 2 of our website which are basically the same structure.. other websites we got are indexed correctly.. Would almost think that the new algorithm got something to do with it?
I have also seen some pages lost in the last few days. But this happens from time to time before more pages are included.
My index stats bounce on its own. From 500 pages upto 1000. But Still almost every page I am having is being indexed by google. I am happy with Google indexing. And BTW, Google follows links in my forum too, so more pages are being indexed everyday.
Google has an index, that is sperate from the main index, which is called the supplemental index. Google puts pages that they consider less relevant to this index. Pages, which are in this index are much less likely to show up in the SERPs. You can see which of your pages are in this index with the search from my first posting. Google shows around 1,300 pages in the main index and around 500 in the supplemental for your pages. This is quite a high percentage of supplemental pages. I personally think that G "de-ranks" websites that have a high percentage of pages in the supplemental index. There are quite a few posting on this topic, where you can get ideas how to get your pages out of the supplemental index. Of course there might be other issues as well I just wanted to point you to this problem. Kind regards, Hans
